RESULTS: 6 Piston Brembos(front only) vs. 2011 Durango Heat stock brakes

6 pot brembos(front only) vs. stock 2011 Durango braking system

Using one utility pole as brake slam point(emergency braking maneuver)
next utility pole as measuring point(just worked out that way) Plus I had no measuring device longer than 25 ft to measure distance between utility poles. Test conducted on private site/company owned/closed.

****I will add the human error in this test. I tried to start emergency braking at the same point on the pavement...but I couldve had an error of 1-3 ft**** I also did about a 350 mile break in on the new pads on the brembos and then a bed in as recomended by Raybestos.

Stock runs 60-0
stock 2 piston front(vented)/single piston rear(solid disc)-STOCK pads
toyo proxes st2 tires
76 degress sunny-0 wind 11:30 am
using utility pole as brake slam point

1st stop from 60

14 ft.

2nd stop from 60

17 ft

3rd stop

24 ft

4th stop

32 ft

------------------------------------------------------------------

6 piston front Brembos

6 piston Brembos on front w/raybestos pads and stock 15" rotors
1 piston rear w/solid disc, stock pads
84 degrees, cross wind 230 pm...same circumstances as above

1st stop

7 ft

2nd stop

1 ft

3rd stop

-2 ft

4th stop

-2 ft

results speak for themselves. The stock system performed ok on first and second stops and got progessively worse. The brembo equipped vehicle got better with every emergency stop. More results when the rear brembos arrive. You can interpret the results as you please.

Do you have any results from when the rear brembos were added?

One final question. Do you know whether or not the brembos will fit with an 18" Jeep wheel? I assumed they would only fit the 20" wheel and above.

Just trying to figure out what the numbers mean...

They are distances relative to the second utility pole? What is the distance between the poles?

Re: RESULTS: 6 Piston Brembos(front only) vs. 2011 Durango Heat stock brakes

yes...2nd pole. Sorry no idea how far apart the poles are. The important number is the difference after the 2nd pole anyway. The difference was very noticeable and was shown by the stopping distance decrease after the 2nd pole.

I installed Brembo Porsche brakes on my 1996 Impala SS, not as easy as this. Those who work on more go before more whoa may well regret that.
