iPod thru AUX, Monster iCarPlay, background noise

I have an older Monster iCarPlay, direct AUX connection into the standard 130 system, using the ignition powered outlet in the front console (under the hvac). Works great and I have used this setup in my vehicles for years. However, there is constant background hiss/interference, almost like the old FM transmitter interference if you've ever played with those. It is very subtle with the ignition on, and more noticeable and even modulates in intensity with the engine on. The audio from my iPod is unaffected (no distortion), this background noise is added-in - and not present through headphones, etc. that could be blamed on the iPod or AUX cable.

I cleaned the iCarPlay with alcohol on all contact surfaces, still the same. It is several years old, but I don't have any kinks in the wires or detect any audio issues through it with the engine off. However FM/AM is okay, so it is doubtful to be something with the 130 system itself. In my previous car this issue was non-existent, and instantly present with the WK2, same cables, same iPod. I can only assume some electrical interference.

Before I try a new iCarPlay or something else that might not be sensitive to this, a $50+ investment, I wanted to ask what everyone is using for an iPod connection, and if you've ever detected this background noise. It is subtle but ever-present, doesn't affect the audio but is added-in, constant with/without music playing, and worse with the engine on. I would think only audiophiles or those with sensitive ears would notice - if you are in this category you know how much this can drive you nuts. I have lived with it so far, but it bugs me. If nothing else, just let me know what you're using with your iPod and if you can honestly declare no background noise.

Do you get the noise if you run a cable directly from the iPod headphone output into the AUX connection on the 130 (no power adapter or anything else, just the cable & iPod and the 130)?

Sounds like either alt noise or a bad multipin connection. Alt noise would amplify as you drive, usually changes in pitch. Solved w ground loop isolator or noise suppresor. Sometimes may stop if the ipod is fully charged and not drawing power. For bad connector, jiggle connector and see if it improves. Could be either end but i would suspect the monster cable unless it works fine in another car or with another ipod. I use the usb port in the center console (or plan to).

Sorry for an incomplete rundown of my testing, there is no interference without the Monster power adapter. This is one where the multipin feeds audio to the power plug (and plug feeds power to the iPod), and the plug has a 3.5mm plug for audio out. A nice one cord chain location to location. So I imagine the interference/add-in, is the nature of sharing the audio and power on the same line, and for some reason the WK2, or mine anyway, picks up the add-in.

It worked fine in my previous car, so some sort of better grounding or power conditioning/regulation might be necessary for the WK2. Hence my question, if anyone has detected the auditory disturbance, if or if not, and what adapter they're using. I trust Monster, but in this case I don't want to buy the same thing (newer version though) unless others have been problem free.

One thing I haven't tried, could be using the iPod 3.5mm direct to the 130, and the multipin to power only. Of course I really like just one cord running from the iPod not two, but this might be a good enough solution. Still open to hear what others are using though, in case I seek a replacement.
