Latest detailing....PIC WHORING AGAIN

Well, I finally got around to doing a full correction and detail on the DubJay...don't mind the missing step pad or front wiper arms. They are away getting hydrographic'd at JNL. It got washed (2 bucket method), clay barred, washed again, engine compartment cleaned, Ultimate Compound (green pad), Ultimate Polish (white pad), Blackfire sealant (black pad), and 2 coats of Ultimate Wax (by hand). The wheels got the same treatment as the rest of the paint. I thought the paint looked good before! Interior was done with Lexol on all the plastics (I know it's a leather product...) and Leatherique on the seats. Engine bay was done with some simple green, and some Gunk brand engine detailer. I'm going to sleep like a baby....

Here are the exterior shots:

Absolutely beautiful.

On a related but not so related topic, do you mind if I ask how you went about finishing off the mounting holes in the roof where the roof rack went? I've been running mine rackless pretty much since I purchased it and for the last year just had the holes filled with caulking. Just wondering how you did yours. I'm wanting a cleaner, more permanent approach. Thanks!

Thank you sir!

I filled mine with clear silicone, and installed some plastic panel push-in fasteners I found at Autozone in the "nut and bolt" section. Check out this post for some more info: http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread...ight=roof+rack

I've had no leak issues, and the black inserts make for a nice, clean finish. I actually found some relatively flat top bolts to fit in the nutserts and painted them to match, but they stuck up a bit too much for my liking, so I removed them and went with the plastic push-in deals. Here was the first attempt:

how do you clean your gear box thingy in front of the cup holders. I clean mine and it looks good from the front but once you get an angle you can see the layer of gunk resting just outside of my reach. I've tried a lot of different things.

As well, I'm debating have mine professionally detailed interior and exterior to get to the high level clean. always easier to maintain then try to climb in my opinion.

I don't know I see a couple spots you missed. Oh, never mind my monitor needs cleaning:D Looks fantastic bro. That has always been one of my favorite colors on a WJ and you make it look even better.

That's really clean. The paint is too nice! I plan on doing the same thing with my Jeep. I'm going to do a 2 step paint correction too. It needs it!

^^
Tony did a 2-step correction too, Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. 2 step is the only way to do it right IMO.

I love the Menzerana stuff, I use Intensive Polish (3.02) and Final Finish (PO85RD). Leaves one amazing finish.

Forgot to say earlier, but this truck reminds me of Hannes' WJ, I loved that Jeep.

With the money you'd spend on a "professional" detail, you can buy all the equipment you need to do it yourself and maintain it in the future. A good Porter Cable random orbital buffer, pads, polishes and waxes, etc...

I bought mine used off a guy who's wife drove it...with her kid and 2 dogs. You could tell she had a kid and 2 dogs. The day I brought it home, I pulled the driver's and passenger's seat and center console and scrubbed the hell out of the carpet, the shifter bezel and put it all back together. That seam around the shifter bezel was funky. After having done that cleaning, all I've had to do for 2 years is hit it with a rag and some cleaner now and then. A little simple green solution and a toothbrush might be all you need instead of removing the console though. Depends how bad it is. Just go easy on the printed on letters...I have a feeling that too much scrubbing can fade those. Hope that helps! Jamming a cloth in there with a popsicle stick or a thin piece of something should do it too....
