Headrest Monitors Installed

Had my headrest monitors installed today. I also had a motion bypass installed so the video/NAV could be used up front while the car is in motion. That part of the install isn't working correctly but hopefully we can figure that out with some follow-up with tech support. I am able to play DVD's off the 430N and the video plays on the rear screens in motion just not on the front.

The monitors have great video quality and look very "OEM"ish. They have a black rubbery coating on them that matches well with the leather interior. The mounting system is very sturdy and I have no doubts they will hold up. The wiring for the monitor is routed through the seats.

I don't like the idea of overhead monitors due to how they block the view out the back window as well as how the rear passengers have to kink their necks up to view them. After a lot of research, these were the best ones I could find that fit all the qualities I was looking for. The ones they make for the Mercedes are huge and bulky and look tacky imho.

Looks great, how did you route the cables?

Cables were routed through the seats from the headrest post to the bottom, then through the center console (easy to remove) and then up behind the 430n. I didn't do the install but my friend said it was easy compared to most cars.

what are you using to get a video output from the 430N ?

Can you play of the USB/SD card slot without using the 430?

Re: Headrest Monitors Installed

As I was not there for the install other than the monitors I imagine it's the outbound video source for the OEM video system if it was equipped.

And yes, I can place a SD card in the monitors and watch any movies, shows etc that I have loaded on it.

That is really cheap. Almost too cheap that it is fishy. It might be the older generation without the input cable that runs through the seats or they are refurbished. I would be wary of those. Thats lower than msrp which is around $180.00.

Anyone who pays MSRP for car electronics is getting ripped off. It's not uncommon to find things at 60-70% off MSRP from large distributors.

I actually meant wholesale not MSRP. I agree no one should pay MSRP.

Very neat install. I didn't want to substitute the panoramic roof for DVD but now with the grandkids that would be the ideal display.
