8.4 nav

I have been looking into installing the Chrysler 300 8.4" nab in my 2012 wk2 overland. I know the air conditioning controls wouldn't work but still would look sweet! The screen is not deep and connects to the large base unit. Anyone heard or attempted this or will I be the ginnea pig? I had a car stereo place say they would try but sure as hell don't want to buy the nav and not have it work.

Crap! I'm gonna be pissed when the 2014's come out Witt he 8.4 in screens. I guess the new alpine 8" will have to suffice. I would guess someone will create a replacement package at some point bc would make a fortune, I would pay for it

That would be nice! I wish someone would look into it. It really can't be that difficult as long as u find a place to put the main unit and custom fit the screen. Power, xm, radio and nav. I have installed aftermarket head units before and spliced wires. Just don't want to fail this time around.

I dont think the Alpine 8" will fit.
I have not personally verified the Alpine screen size but a shop gave me some screen dimensions... 7 1/2 x 4 15/16.

The OEM dash opening on my 11 Overland is 8 5/16 x 3 7/8

Alpine does make a 7" screen that may work but I have not looked into it due to features.

Oh... and that blank panel between the radio and climate control panel... (at least on my Overland) is a no go area. The climate control has some sort of hump that extends up into that area.

If that's all you connect, then the steering wheel switches won't work, EPIC won't display NAV turns, the NAV screen won't show your speed, you won't see the rear-camera view while backing up, and the head unit display won't dim when headlights come on.

Greetings,

From what have read and experience with the WK2 HI Speed Cam Bus, if you install the 8.4 it will effect other systems with in the WK2. If that is true, then it not worth it.

If you are looking for the big screen, then an experience install shop would be the best bet to install the 8 inch Alpine Unit. It will be a better sounding unit plus it has the advance nav features that the new Uconnect radios started to get.

Best for now.:)
