Best MPGs on 4.7?
Hi all first post...

This is my second jeep(2005 grand cherokee limited 4.7 4x4, black, leathers, sun roof, ect..), my first was a 2011 jeep patriot, older cars were 07 mustang gt, and a 03 cobra(yes i've owned one, for 3yrs.. also ruin my licence with it :D) , and many others need not munch mention, such as my 93 Thunderbird SC, audi a4, and volvo s70:lol: none ever left my hands un-modded..

anyway, now we know im a car enthusiast.... to the point!, i want better mpg's out of this thing, i've read around but can't find the dead info im looking for. I'm not expect honda mileage, just better, so i'm wondering what mods can I do & what are the gains(whats worth it the most!), also if you could recommend places to get the best deals it would be greatly appreciated:cool:

Thanks in advance, I'll be checking back shortly!

Re: Best MPGs on 4.7?
Theres another thread, a few ones down from this in this same section, all about mpg postings.

Find someone with good mpg for the 4.7 and then look at their signature(bottom of their post) and that should list all they have done to their jeep.

Most do, CAI, Ported TB, Exhaust, Tuner. About all that can be done as far as bolt ons and without tearing into the engine and replacing big things.

Also things like, lowering the jeep, and removing like the roof racks may improve mpgs...

Re: Best MPGs on 4.7?
The day I bought mine, I drove it home from the outskirts of Chicago and it was about a 150 mile drive, basically the whole thing was on the highway. It had stock tires and were pretty bare. I got it up to 20 mpg on the h/w. So then I bought new tires, and went a little taller, not wider or bigger rims, just taller. Ever since buying them, my computer is yet to tell me i've reached 17 mpg. Even when resetting it before I drive on a highway for an hour. So the combination of new tires and the computer not recognizing them is showing me wrong mpg.
