2000 WJ Towing
Quick question for anyone that tows with a WJ, what coolant temp do you usually see? I have a 2000 WJ, with the V-8 and tow package. Unfortunately it has 170k on it, but its the tow vehicle I have until the '14 diesels come out.
I was towing yesterday, not much incline change, trying to keep revs below 3000. I had the OD off, and the temps I was seeing were creeping over 210. For a while, they started to touch the next mark after 210. Typically, this vehicle runs slightly below the 210, even in 90+ degrees with the air cranked.
I just wanted to make sure this is typical. The radiator has been flushed within the last year.
Re: 2000 WJ Towing
I have a 4.0l I6 and have towed a couple times. The only time where the temp gauge increased (we are talking from below its "normal" point below 210 to the upper side of 210) was when I was climbing a mountain for about an hour.
It raised for the the last 15 minutes of the climb and then once I leveled out, the gauge returned to below the 210 mark. That's the only time I've seen my temp gauge move while towing.
I sit about 205-210 towing Jetski
today coming home its 90+ out side and.out.of nowhere 220 on read out wtf.!!!!! I turned cabin heater on. barely dropped to 208.
