yay or nay

G' day all, I ordered a white grand in April and have been tracking it though this website since only to see it get built and sit at the factory since June. I have been annoying the dealer for the last few weeks and he had been assuring me that my car was arriving on the ship called the 'grand sapphire'.
The other day he called finally accepting the information I had been giving him about the status of my order was correct saying jeep aus had been giving him the wrong info.
Now I still need to get a car as my current one is nearing the end of its life so I asked if he can find a replacement car. He called back this morning saying he might have found one but it is going the same as what I'm paying now but without the extras (my order has ORA package and quadralift) so my previously great deal will drop back to RRP..
At the moment I'm over the whole ordeal. My options are kick up a stink with jeep aus the dealer and maybe even ACCC or take the car on offer and ignore the fact that I was previously getting a better deal, or cancel the order, shell out a bit extra and get a landcruiser (or similar) - what do people think?

Oh boy do I hear you!!!
I've been tracking my Overland as well and it was built early July and it is still in storage as of today. There doesn't appear to be any movement of it ATM.

Mine doesn't have any options other than dealer fitted ones so I bit the bullet a couple of days ago and bought another one that is already here. I should have it in a week or so.

Just have to pay a visit to original dealer and break the news to him......

Don't bother jumping up and down with Jeep (by all accounts they have deaf ears and won't hear you.

Don't bother with ACCC, the agro isn't worth it.

Cancel the deal and ditch your dealer. Some of these dealers are just dumb and blunt tools of the manufacturer.

Think outside of your geographical location, you're in the ACT, start calling some dealers in Sydney & Melbourne, it's a little more running around but at least you may find what you're looking for and get it much sooner. I'm in Brisbane, none of the dealers had what I was looking for, in fact they tried hard to get me into something they wanted me to settle for so I bought from Suttons in Sydney.

If you still can't find what you want, ditch Jeep altogether, they're not worthy of your business and start looking for another car that will fit the bill.

The "buying" process should be a memorable and enjoyable experience, something Jeep are really struggling to provide prospective Jeep buyers. And that's just fact.

Hope you can put yourself out of your misery soon.

If you can wait, it will be worth getting the car and deal you originally wanted. If you can't wait, then forget the Jeep and look elsewhere.
They are a great car and I love mine to death do us part, but the whole Jeep buying experience will frustrate the hell out of you.

I think you will be happiest if you wait for the one you ordered.

Your dealer isnt trying hard enough as long as your contract allows you to walk away i would. Go to a dealer who will do you the deal. Alternatively get a landcruiser. I'm happy with my jeep but will be going back to Toyota after this one..in hind sight it is a little small for our needs and Toyota are catching up with the bells and whistles now.

Volotage,

If you can wait then great. Otherwise I suggest cancelling your order and look at dealers in Sydney.
The single dealer in Canberra is hopeless and it's frustrating talking to them.

You call them and someone on the switchboard answers the phone and tells you all the dealers are busy in meetings and will call you back. Two days later still nothing and you call them again to get the same message. You then call the dealer directly on his mobile leaving a message to call you back. A week later and I give up.

Love to support local businesses but this time I'm looking at getting my car serviced in Sydney.

haha know the feeling too well, however I have done the call around both Sydney and Melbourne and they all more or less say 'oh your after a diesel grand cherokee laredo.. good luck'

I had a dealer from melbourne call me back the other week saying they had one in stock, once I said 'can you bring the price down to x to match my writen quote' I got the 'I'll check and call you back'. no call back so I called back the next day and got 'oh you already have a deal in the works so we cant sell you the car' my reply 'this one is for my partner' he reply 'ill check with the manager and call you back' - no call back, gave up on them.

I thought buying a new car would be exciting and a good experience especially considering this is my first new car, but somehow it has just been full of annoyance, and reading up on all the dramas others are having makes it worse!

It frustratin because I still want the jeep because it is so well priced (especially with all the standard features) and nice to drive, and everytime I get into a Prado or Cruiser i think how overpriced they are for what you get!

hmm... damn you Jeep Australia

Yep, I can see Jeep Australia Senior Management having read this and calling an out of hours emergency meeting to discuss being called 'Damned', feeling disappointed they have let their valued customers down, and agreeing on mass to resign their positions to allow fresh customer focussed executives to take over and erase their previous encumbents poor performance. Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh.

Truth really be known, they've all probably been given performance bonuses for the increased market share and profit performance.

Sad thing really. Jeep Aus is riding on an enormous high, that's about to come crashing down as more and more potential Aus customers see and read the bad reviews and feedback and then shop elsewhere.

If you plan on driving on sand then cancel the order and buy the Toyota

Is your current car really that bad ?
If you can hold on, stick with the deal. At least you have your VIN and have a car allocated. I bet the dealer would love you to dump the deal as they will sell you another ar RRP and your ordered one at RRP.
Any deal they make on the replacement would need to be as sweet.

My opinion - wait for yours. You'll be kicking yourself if you by another car and are not happy with it. Just put up with Jeep's crappy service for a while longer.
Plus, these Jeeps are the best value for money 4x4 on the market (apart from the 4WD malfunctions).
The cruisers are great cars, would have bought one if the funds were available, but they are very over priced and without the same features.
Hold in there buddy!
