has anyone in australia been happy with their satnav?i live in bundaberg and wanted to travel to dalby. entered dalby city centre. so you guestit, it wanted to send me via brisbane. what a heap of dogs droppings. not happy jan. the rest of the gc is great.dont know what to do next. some of the roads we have travelled on are not on the map as far as the satnav thinks--- been there for 20years because we used to drive on them. grr-grr --grr

I have the Laredo so no Satnav, but have read much in this forum and on Ausjeepoffroad forum that there are issues with this inbuilt system. There is a TSB issued to relocate the GPS antenna for Aus, but suggest you ring JeepAssist or talk with your local dealer.

That's why I did not order the sat nav
Cheaper and better to buy one that sits on the dash with life time updates included.
Jeep and for that matter most factory sat navs. Are so out of date and over expensive and waste of time
I would suggest ACCC as item is not fit for purpose ask jeep to either replace it or refund your money as per consumer laws. Not fit for purpose

Patience.

We have just picked up our new Jeep Overland and the Sat Nav did exactly the same thing.

Have talked to and then emailed Jeep Australia. They have no idea when a fix will be available. By looking at other threads on this and other sites, it is not new.

So, not good enough. Selling a product with a known fault. And no time frame to fix.

I have just spoken with ACCC. It does come under their guidelines and they have given me some advice on how to proceed.

Don't sit there and accept bad service. It doesn't get better. I suggest you pick up the phone and call the ACCC (1300 302 502) and they will give you the details on the letter you need to write to Jeep, including the actual terms. Here is a link if you want to browse: http://www.accc.gov.au/content/item....0consumers.pdf

I have already written to Jeep today and I will proceed with the help of the ACCC. The more people who do the same, the better the end result for current and future Jeep owners.

Pity - everything else about our Jeep so far is wonderful. Heaven help us when something BIG goes wrong!

Re: satnav problems

Regardless of the misleading and faulty routing in the Jeep GPS, I think we can all agree that the Jeep GPS is basic. I think anyone who has any experience with a Tom Tom or Garmin, or even the aldi $49.95 GPS will know what a reliable GPS should do.

Now the good news. Today I took my Jeep into the Canberra Dealer where Craig Rosevear of Jeep HO had sent the map update disks. They have uploaded the disks and I tested it against known routes that previously had instructed us to go via capital cities making the GPS unuseable. Here are the examples of my tests:

Canberra to Batemans Bay - last week via Sydney and 512 kms. Today on the Jeep GPS 148kms, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

Canberra to Dubbo - last week via Sydney and 618 kms. Today by Jeep GPS 407kms, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

Canberra to Bendigo - last week via Melbourne and 778 kms. Today by Jeep GPS 650km, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

POIs - at least Bunnings is no longer in NZ. Under Emergency it shows 2 hospitals in Canberra (correct) but another in Braidwood. Missed the Queanbeyan hospital, another major regional hospital only 8 kms away. So I guess in an emergency I would prefer to use my mobile phone to check.

THIS UPDATE WAS FREE. SO IT SHOULD BE AFTER PROMISING A FIX FOR ALMOST 18 MONTHS.

AND A BIG THANK YOU TO CANBERRA A.C.T. DEPARTMENT OF FAIR TRADING - THIS RESULT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR LETTERS, EMAILS AND CALLS OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS.

Jeep certainly wasn't interested in my welfare. I have a stat declaration from another Jeep owner, in preparation for a court case, that even up to 24 April 2013 Tracey at Jeep customer service was telling people she knew nothing about the navigation routing issues.

Not a wise idea, Tracey and Jeep. The internet makes for a small world.

Why not contact Jeep Customer Care and ask for your free GPS update - Tracey can be reached on 1300 133 079.

Good luck!

Thats good news Bungendore. Our Overland has the same problem around the Fraser Coast & Bundaberg QLD. The entire GPS unit needs updating urgently on the Jeeps so fitted & the CD's must be made available to all the dealers Australia wide urgently. A recall should be issued to owners I feel.

I have the same issues with my '10 overland. Thanks for the number, I'll get mine done soon.

My MY14 Overland diesel is now 1600km old. The Satnav often loses it's way, even on the Pacific Hwy. I'm hoping to get an updated data base from the dealer. My big problem, however, is the voice recognition in Sat nav. If I tell it to navigate to home, no problem, it responds with "navigating to home" and away we go. However if I ask for a POI or a specific address, it tells me voice commands are not available for the country selected. Australia is already selected, so that doesn't help. The dealer doesn't seem to know the answer. Anybody got any ideas?

I'm confused. Why has Jeep Customer Care continued stating that the sat nav fix is not ready yet if you (Bungendore) received it sometime prior to June 3rd!!!!!!

Re: satnav problems

Bungendore took a few pioneering steps towards forcing CJD to make an effort, so was given a beta version of the new 2013 maps. Although there were more verified roads, the issue was still there. I believe another member was given the same update, but that crashed their radio, resulting in a new radio having to be ordered. I suspect that is why nothing new has been broadcast.

Re: satnav problems

Just had my u connect unit replaced in my 2012 overland because was having issue with the Bluetooth dropping out. The good news is that now my sat nav is working it now tells me I can drive to Perth on Albany hwy in approx 4 hrs instead of driving around the coastal way which takes over 6 hrs approx.
Have been arguing with jeep for awhile about the satnav and been told that many times it was only a couple weeks away, sounded like a stuck record after just under a year.
All I need now is to resolve the auto wipers after replacing the windscreen with a genuine Mopar one and it does the dreaded one swipe on start up not what you want on a dry new screen
