Are you planning on connecting the RCA's directly to an amp or through some sort of hi-level converter?

All the speaker wires in the Jeep are amplified, the additional amp is really just an eq/booster so keep that in mind.

The best wires to use are the rear speaker ones as they're full range.

LR + gray/lt green
LR - gray/dk.green
RR + dk green/lt green
RR - dk green/gray

Correct, use the rear speaker leads, full range sound, your amp will have the appropriate crossovers to filter our the highs.

also check out www.the12volt.com they have wiring diagrams for just about any make and model out there. Great resource for audio or ignition wiring information.

any other questions feel free to shoot me a PM, car audio installer for 8 years.

JM is there really a difference between the different LOC options out there? I am thinking about installing an aftermarket sub in my WK but don't really need all of the fancy bells and whistles that come on some of the fancier LOC.

Realistically speaking, there isnt enough difference for it to matter. As long as it has some kind of adjustable sensitivy you'll be fine. Also, go with a brand you've heard of, not a random chinese one just for a more piece of mind.

Ive used ones from Install Edge, Metra, scosche, and kicker and they've all worked flawlessly.

Jm thanks for that. I assume as long as i follow the pin out and tap the rear speaker leads i will be able to run the rca's to the amp and go from there.

Also if i run a remote from the amp to the cig lighter there would be no need to have a LOC with a remote feed correct?

Correct on the Remote feed.

As for the hook ups, if you are doing an amp to run a subwoofer, i would hook to the front door leads, they are already crossed over for bass only.

You can you really use either, i personally used the front leads.

would i still want to tap the lines after the amplification from the stock amp?
secondly would i then leave the LPF alone or still set it to specifically the bass frequencies?

You have to tap the lines coming OUT of the amplifer, you want the OUTPUTS. The inputs will not work.

You should always properly adjust all the filters on your amplifer.

I understand the adjustment portion but if they are only giving me bass frequencies there would be no reason to adjust the crossover on the amp to isolate the lower frequencies.

You will find quite good information here. Checkout the kicker audio upgrade documentation.
Jeep Grand Cherokee WK - Audio system pinouts. I have used the right front door speaker wires.
