Just picked up my WK!!!

The wait is over! Just picked up my 2005 Laredo 4.7l V8 4x4 with 81k on it. I have one main concern though. When I drove it home it ran great on the highway but when I got into the city it occasionally had a rough idle when waiting at red lights. Spark plugs or something? Any ideas? Thanks

Mine has always idled a bit rough, around 500rpm. It will occasionally dip below 500rpm and then come back up. I just got used to it, and I've read other threads about people noticing the same thing.

Does it get worse in cold weather? I think I can live with it but I thought I was going to stall out today. I'm going to get some things checked on it soon. I will report back with any news. Thanks

Not that I've noticed. Maybe you could post a video of it at idle?

Run some seafoam through the TB and gas tank. That should help with the rough idle.

Re: Just picked up my WK!!!

a "rough" idle is VERY common on the 4.7l... people have said using a superchips tuner and upping the idle 50 rpms or so helped... Unless you have a check engine lamp then dont worry about it falling apart tomorrow (check engine lamp indicating a misfire or something).

Sweet rig, I LOVED mine since the day we got it, When I got it for the price I did there was a possibility of selling it and making 10k, But I loved it too much and the value of having it as cheaply as we got it couldnt be beat and will likely remain in the fam until it dies.

It doesn't idle rough very often at all so I'm not as worried now. A friend of mine suggested I clean the throttle body but here in a couple weeks I'm going to get a CAI and a Fastman's TB. I'm also getting spark plugs, wires, tires, and all the fluids serviced. Maybe when I tint my front windows it will go away ;)

See what happens after you get those services done. Other members have resolved a rough idle by replacing the EGR. I however do not have and never had a rough idle, nor does the idle dip or fluctuate at a stop light. I have a 06 4.7L v8, 84300 miles.

Re: Just picked up my WK!!!

I have an 06 with 91k and I have never had an issue with rough or dipping idle. I would change the spark plugs out with factory plugs, run some seafoam through it, and do an overall tune up. I never like to take the word of the dealer on when maintenance was done. So you will be better off just doing this all now... Good luck
