water on floor
I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee that is leaking water on the passenger side floorboard. Lots of water on the floor. The ac lines are showing water, lots of water running off of them, and are very cold. However the ac has not been running. Can anyone tell me what my problem is?
Re: water on floor
When the lines are cold and condensation is on them, for sure the AC compressor was on. Even with the AC switch not switched on and the light not lit, with the air direction selected to defrost (windshield), the AC compressor will be switched on automatically, to reduce the water content of the air going to the cabin and in that way reducing the possibility of fogging the windshield.
Water on the passengers side floorboard can be 2 things: or its really water, or its coolant. When its water, you have a good change that the AC drain from the HVAC housing, which ends up in the engine bay (you can see a short tube sticking out of the firewall just behind the right bank cylinder head) is clogged. Try to pry it gently with some kind of metal pin to see if there is anything blocking it.
If it is coolant, you could have a leaking heater core.
