Multifunction engine warning lamp
Took my 6 month old Grand Cherokee 3.0L CRD back to the dealer today with the amber engine warning lamp lit. The lamp has Been on for a week. The handbook referes to a number of causes and recommends a trip to the dealer if the lamp stays on for a while. Dealer says the fault code was P049D, Exhaust gas recirculation "A" control exceeded learning limit. This is a pending fault code and not an actual alarm. Can anyone shed a light on what the significance of this warning is ? Would it not be better to hide pending codes until service time rather than throw a lamp on the dash requiring a trip to the dealer for shrugged shoulders and a reset.
This is not a rant, love the car. Best Grand yet and very good CRD engine. Getting the quoted 34MPG (UK)
Re: Multifunction engine warning lamp
The code says that P049D is just an egr code stating that the egr valve is sticking and may need replacing soon, if it is not that though it could be a PCM.
