My little trip to Ouray in the new Jeep over the long weekend.

For the Labor day weekend, we took a trip out to Ouray, CO. We planned to take the Jeep on few moderate trails. I had already installed skid plates prior to this trip.. and am glad I did that. Few spots in the trail, I had rocks hit the bottom of the Jeep. Some downhill sections were so steep that I could not see the trail or my spotter in front of me. Overall, I am very impressed w/ this Jeep's capability even in its stock form.

On our first day there, we did the Imogene Pass. We started from the Telluride side and it was relatively easy. Some of the sections were narrow. The shelf road that ascends to the top of the pass was narrow and steep.

Below is the view of the Black Bear Pass from Imogene Pass trail.

Looking down when coming from the top of the pass. It was steeper than it looks and I had to use 4-Low + Hill Descent Control.

Lots of stream crossings.

The next day, we did the Mineral Creek Trail that connects to Engineer Pass. The trail gets right down to business right from the start. The first 2-3 miles have difficult sections, but the Jeep handled great! Couple of areas I had to get down and assess the path to take over the rocks. It had rained the previous night, so there were lots of puddles which made the tires wet and slippery when driving over the rocky sections.

For this one, I had to ask one of the ATV riders on the trail to spot me.

Mineral Creek Trail kept better and better.... :)

Engineer Pass was pretty easy but scared my wife a bit due to the narrow and steep trails with nothing to stop you for 3000 ft if there was an oopsie. :)

Thanks everyone. The scenery, weather and the twisty roads are the only things keeping me in this state. I lived in MN prior to moving here and you really appreciate the 300+ sunny days. Which place can you ski, drive your car top-down and ride a m-cycle on the same day? We hike 3 to 4 14ers each year, camp a lot in the summer months and enjoy the outdoors as much as we can.

Wish we had a place like that to take our jeeps here in NJ. Visiting a place like that is definitively in my bucket list. Great pictures and great photography skills. Thanks for sharing!
