Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

Hey - twice in the last three days my WK2 has honked three times when I use the remote to lock the doors (engine was just turned off less than a minute beforehand).

Does anyone have an idea what it is trying to tell me? Nothing is on the display and I have always had it set so that the lights flash (no horn) when using the remote to lock and unlock.

I found this in the owners manual...only thing with 3 chirps.
'
Tamper Alert
If something has triggered the Vehicle Security Alarm in
your absence, the horn will sound three times and the
exterior lights blink three times when you unlock the
doors. Check the vehicle for tampering

This is probably not it, but if you have the smart key system with the push button start and leave the key in the car, while attempting to lock it from the buttons on the doors, it will also honk 3 times to remind you the key is still in the vehicle.

Well, it happened both times when I was LOCKING the doors, not unlocking them. I was using the remote to lock the doors, was definitely outside of the vehicle and the vehicle was turned off.

Still trying to figure it out....

Low battery on the fob maybe?
Have you tried using the spare to see if it does the same thing?

are you sure the spare key is not inside the car ?

This does sound like the vehicle warning you that it is about to go into lockdown. This is supposed to occurs if there is a keyfob in the car and no activity in there

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

There was no key fob inside the vehicle. I have always had my settings for the lights to flash when locking and unlocking (no horn honk - especially no three honks). The car did not unlock itself. The odd thing is it did this twice within 3 days.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

Wellll, it did it again. I was clearly outside the vehicle, the doors were all fully closed, no extra key inside. I used the FOB to lock the vehicle and for no reason I can think of it honked three short times......... Everything works fine. Perhaps the GC was just trying to get me pay more attention to it!
