Front Lower Valance Removal

I have a 2004 GC {Special Edition}; how do you remove the {Silver on my Jeep} cover that goes on the lower part of the front bumber or valance. I took out the visible screws and plastic clips on the bottom side, but it still would not come off, it feels like its attached from the top somehow; it feels like there maybe are two screws back there.

I didn't want to pull to hard and break it if there is something else still holding it on.

Thanks,

Peter

I checked my factory service manual dude...and nothing! It tells you how to remove the entire front fascia, but not just that valance you're talking about. I tried taking mine off once, and it feels like it wants to come out, but like you, I didn't want to get too violent with it for fear of cracking it. If you figure it out, please let us know. I've considered getting mine CF dipped.

Thanks for checking the Factory Service Manual; I want to try to put 3M Vinyl Wrap {Brushed Steel} on mine and I'd rather take it off than try to do it laying on the floor.

From feeling the top part it feels like there are two screws holding it on, but almost impossible to see or get a screwdriver in there.

I might try calling Jeep service departments; sometimes they've done it before and know stuff like that; if I find out I'll let you know.

Please do! If it comes off without any issue, I'll likely remove mine and make some "changes"....

Check out wjjeeps.com, they have a section on front grills/facia's telling (and showing) how and if your grill normally comes apart.

Resurrecting this thread...anyone ever figure this one out? I'd really like to be able to remove my plastic lower chrome fascia for some "refinishing".

Re: Front Lower Valance Removal

BTW, it has to be possible somehow...they sell just the lower fascia piece seperately. I've removed the push-in connectors and it loosens up, but I can't seem to get it to budge. It really looks like it's just got some tabs tucked into slots, but I'm afraid to really force it.

I have an '01 and when I had mine apart to put in my mesh, I didn't see a way to separate those pieces unless you're careful and cut them out. It can be done if you're careful cutting and figure out where you want to screw or bolt them back on at.

Thanks dude...
All I know is that they sell JUST the part I'm looking to remove, so it has to come out somehow. I was going to dick with it again today, but there's like 8" of snow outside, and it's just not a good night to be laying on the ground while your Jeep leaks salty funk snow all over you. Next dry day, I'll give it another shot.

I've seen them for sale and thought it was removable till I removed my front end. I know how it is laying in the snow, I'm originally from Northwestern PA and have spent many a day and night laying in the snow and slush to to fix things lol.

Well, they are removable. I finally found the time and patience today. 2 screws, 3 clips, and 3 push-in plastic fasteners. First you need to get at the 2 philips head screws located at either edge. These are what I'd never noticed before. You can get to them by reaching in from behind (that's what she said). You can see on the pic below where the screws go. Between the two screws are 3 plastic retaining clips that just push in. Once that's done, it comes right out.

So those screws are on the inside of the actual bumper plastic? Wow best kept secret in WJ land. I talked to my buddy about this because he slid off the road and messed up the bumper on his '04 a few years back and they replaced his bumper but forgot to order the fascia. When it came in it only took a few minutes for them to put on but he couldn't see how they did it. But now we know! Great info bro!
