Wanted Used Jeep SRT8 Stock Exhaust Manifolds

Looking for a set of Used SRT8 Exhaust manifolds or a link to a website to buy new.

What pipes do you guys recommend 2.5 or 3"? Doesnt seem like it matters what kind of exhaust is used borla, magnaflow, ect. However I was wondering with the possibility of installing headers in the future should I go ahead and do dual exhaust? Currently looking at a single magnaflow catback exhaust system.

Has anyone tried to bolt these headers on? If so what were the main problems as to why they didnt fit?

http://www.modernmuscleperformance.c...-jp34%20nc.htm

Does anyone have pictures or know of a thread that show where the performance SRT8 headers have clearance issues on the 5.7L Jeeps?

I imagine it doesnt matter which CAI you go with but from experience is there a specific; brand I should go with? Currently looking at AirAid and Mopar. I am looking at replacing the throttle body also would this have any effect on which CAI I purchase?

Throttle Body: Are the 5.7L and SRT8 stock throttle bodies the same size? Is the SRT8 throttle body ported? If they are the same size and the SRT8 throttle body is not ported. What size do you recommend? A link to a supplier would also be helpful.

CAM: Just starting to research this however if I were to make future modifications to my engine (heads, intake, crank, etc.) What CAM would you recommend. Not wanting to make this a full out race jeep as I still commute with it. Any specs, links, pictures would help.

5.7 Stoker: What does this mean and what doea it entail. Any links pictures ect on this subject would help.

Any help with the above Areas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I dont know if anyones tried the chally headers, but the chargers wont fit. the jeep has alot less room to fit them into.
lots of people have used the stock srt manifolds with good results, but you do have to make modifications.
http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread...ht=srt+exhaust

CAI's get alots of debate as to who likes what...it doesnt make a diff. for fitting on/to the tb

the TB's are IIRC the same on the 5.7 & 6.1 you can get a ported one from flyin ryan or bigger ones from several other places.

5.7 stroker: you take a 5.7 & replace the crank with one that has a longer stroke,or swing = more displacement, etc, etc. its a full rebuild. you can find kits at shop hemi.com as well as others, there are lots of them.

Thanks for the info!

Yea, I emailed modern muscle and was told that if I wanted to grind and knock it in place that it had been done but they didn't recommend it.He has a set of stock srt8 manifolds for $350 plus shipping. Which seems a lil high? So I figured I could spend that $1500 on CAI, throttle body, SRT8 factory Exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust, and a diablo intune.

Which will give me a pretty good base until I can save up enough money to buy a CAM, heads, and find a solution for headers.

Can you send me some links to common ported throttle bodies used for the 5.7? What websites do you suggest or use to order parts? still can't find a website that sales new/used exhaust manifolds.

Also was wondering how I figure what CAM to use? Any suggestions?

On the stroker will the crank from the SRT-8 line up with the 5.7L factory block & transmission?

I have the 85 mm variable diamter CNC ported TB from Modern Muscle, and it is great upgrade, as there are no downsides, more TQ and HP from low to high RPM. Dont waste your money on a CAI. STock works best. EVeryone that has had a CAI and then gone back to stock will verify this. I tested stock intkae versus CAI with both stock and ported TB, and the stock intake is far better with both. It is really not worth all the labor to put on SRT manifolds unless you are already having to remove leaking stock manifolds, as it is a total PITA.

The srt manifolds do require some cutting of the trans housing (not alot and its not structural ) check the thread i linked above and you'll see what i mean. are those $350 mani's used. if so,yes they are a little high, but if they are low mileage, its not terrible.there are people selling them here from time to time. the only other places I have noticed them are shops that build stroker srt8's selling the stock take offs. they are popular with the car guys as well so they do seem to go fairly quick.
the only difference you get by swapping to a 6.1 crank, is that it is forged, where the 5.7 is cast. the strokes are the same-6.1 has a bigger bore.
for a ported TB get with FlyinRyan: http://www.jeepgarage.org/forumdisplay.php?f=59 he's a vendor here,he also does tuning and is a great guy great to deal with.
If you are really considering building a stroker, I wouldnt spend the $$ on a cam for the 5.7 or even doing the manifolds untill you do the engine. IMHO,it would be much easier to do it all at once.

for your 1st purchase, i suggest getting a catchcan. there are many brands, and they do the same thing,it just depends what you want. http://www.shophemi.com/p-1264-57l-61l-hemi-catch-can-by-billet-technology.aspx
I have a BT myself, and it does a great job! spiffy too :D

Thanks for the input DMS...

I was planning on ordering the catch can already forgot to put that on there.
The stroker is going to have to wait. I think I will go ahead and add the exhaust manifolds as i hopefully got a set of SRT8 exhaust manifolds from my friends dad just gotta find em at his muffler shop lol. Also planning on getting the 85mm throttle body and dual exhaust. May go ahead and throw on the CAI. From the thread you sent me, regarding the picture of the transmission with the red line indicating the cut that needs to be made, do you know if this is on the driver side or passenger side?

What is "variable diameter,ported" ?
Do you mean taper bored? Porting is something you do to heads. Boring is what is done to carbs, TB's, cylinders. Throw it in a 3 jawed chuck or fixture on CNC lathe and watch the magic happen.
Taper bored is the only way to go. If anyone is selling bigger bored TB's without taper they are selling something that wont work on the street very well. Currently working on matching a taper bored TB with different length and diameter velocity stacks and some epoxy work. Looking to get air moving as straight, fast and smooth as it can before it hits the runners. The 90deg turn right before it hits TB is not ideal. Air can use some help getting around that turn. Want several configurations done so I can strap it to the dyno and see what they do for peak and curve.
Bigger not always better.
Read a dyno shootout on intakes for 5.7 and stock plastic intake was a clear winner over the larger runners on 6.1 or a 4 barrel carb. Smaller diameter can make for a higher velocity, fresh intake charge and quicker filling cylinders. Something that is also promoted by the scavenging effect of sound pulses moving thru exhaust and by the overlap duration of cam. Too big of exhaust cuts back on the effectiveness of this. Its why headers work. Pulse is able to flow down tube instead of crashing into manifold wall.
Guess my point is that there is a lot of engineering that goes into a modern setup under the hood. Compromises have to be made but buying expensive bolt on intakes, exhausts, plugs or whatever probably arent going to help performance much unless you do some real research on the combo you want to run. May hit a combo that your engine doesnt like at all if you dont.

Re: Wanted Used Jeep SRT8 Stock Exhaust Manifolds

So I cleaned and grounded my throttle body last night. The inside was completely black and had quite a bit of build up on it. I noticed the throttle response was much better not sure if it is from the cleaning, the ground wire or both. My girlfriend used my jeep afterwards to pick up groceries and without her knowing I had messed with it at all she asked me what I did to it. So I know its not just me feeling the difference.

Do any of you know what the internal bore diameter is on a stock throttle body as I used a caliper to measurr mine lastnight and got 82mm on the front and 80mm on the back. Is this stock or?

Will be installing the srt8 manifolds and wanted to know what you guys suggest as far as a dual exhaust...

What do you guys recommend as far as high flow cats vs no cats?

Muffler 2 vs 1?

Pipe Size: 2.5 vs 3?

Do Srt8 headers fit the 5.7 hemi? (cutting and modification dont scare me)
