Good price for fog light kit? MOPAR

Seeing as I don't have fog lights on my Jeep, before going to justforjeep.com, I figured i'd try to see if eBay had anything. Found these, and the price seems fair considering they are OEM. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Its not a bad price. Saves you time from having to piece the kit together.

You could search around and get each individual piece and only spend about $120 ish?

You're still going to need to have the dealer use their scan tool to allow operation of the fog lights. The stalk alone wont allow such operation.

Oh Is the scan tool something only the dealers are authorized to use? So they won't work until then..I can imagine what the dealer would charge, darn. Thanks for the help!

I was in the same boat a while back. I bought all the pieces individually from RockAuto.com and spent like $110 for everything. Its all really easy to install. My bro in law (who sold me the Jeep) works at the dealer and had them flash the computer with their starscan tool for no charge. I've read where some dealers charge for it, and other dealers don't. Call around to your local shops and see what they say. Its literally like a 3 minute job for them.

Didn't go to the dealer for mine. Had them done with a separate switch (can use them exclusively) Just gotta remember to turn it off when not in use, or else you will kill the batt lol.

I haven't even used my fogs in the longest though haha

All you have to do to fix that is hook the wires up to a fuse that comes on only with the ignition, ex. radio fuse.

Dealer does only have the scantool. It literally is a 3 minute job that they may try and charge you an hour for as in $100. If so, tell them you know its not hard and say you know others that have paid less/free at their dealerships. See what happens....

I bought that kit accidently a few months ago. I have foglights but both were cracked. I didn't realize I was buying the whole kit. Obviously I only used the light part and have the rest left over.

If you are interested, PM me an offer. I don't mean to hijack your thread at all.

Thanks!

Re: Good price for fog light kit? MOPAR

just did mine about a month ago...
got the kit from justforjeeps. i think it was like $130 including shipping..

put them in one afternoon, it isnt too hard, pretty simply actually.

but yea, be prepared to get EFFED at the dealer. I called 5 different jeep dealers within a 45minute radius to me and the cheapest i got was 80bucks! I even tried pulling the whole, "how are you gonna charge me 80 dollars to push a couple buttons, when I know exactly what needs to be done and it only takes 5 minutes and i did the install myself?" card. yea, they werent having it.. just gave me the line of "listen, this is how much we charge to plug it into the starscan and thats all I can do"

so, unless you get real lucky, catch someone in an extremely giving mood or know someone at the dealer... be prepared to shell out another 80-100 bucks for them to activate the fogs to work... all in all you'll be looking at about $200. but if you can swing it.. its nice having fogs. I'm glad i did mine.

Thanks for all of the input fellas, this gave me great insight into a potential extra hundred bucks to spend. Before I make the purchase, I will call around to my local dealerships, and see what they will charge. Appreciate the help everyone!

You can also put some behind the grill just gotta use a switch instead. I didnt wanna go through the hassle of the kit/ dealer. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/18/samy5ygu.jpg

^^^ +1. I've got a set of Hella 500FF's behind my grille also. They don't act quite the same as fogs because they're mounted higher. I have them in the driving pattern and use them as driving lights.
