Shorty Antenna?

Does any of our vendors sell these and what should I look out for and what should I avoid if I have to go looking on ebay?

Re: Shorty Antenna?

you've got a few options, brother.
i believe there is a vendor that goes by the name of JR who sells shortys.. Rob aka BLACKEDOUTWK has one on his WK.. its nice looking, not sure on the price though.
I use a 14" black billet antenna from AntennaX that ran me $20.. looks identical to the one SvenskaJeepGuy has...
Also, Sean aka WKThursty makes antenna's as well which look very nice. I believe the one that omelet made was provided by him.

Mine has been treating me well, but check out the options I just gave ya and see which is best for you.

With the passing of Jon Ross (may he rest in peace) I do not believe we will see anymore antenna from JR's Customs. I will check out the other options. Thank you

Re: Shorty Antenna?

I had an AntennaX until recently a low branch broke it off. So I am in need of a new one and preferably shorter. I am looking at all these universal ones on ebay but I cannot tell if the fittings they have will work or not.
For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180954510914...84.m1423.l2649

The fittings on this page seem to be the ones provided by most universal adapters but of course some say they will not fit Jeep while others do.

Re: Shorty Antenna?

I was unaware that JR customs was run by him. Probably should have put two and two together.I did not mean any disrepect to Jon Ross. I know he is respected and missed by all on this thread. My apologies for the mixup.
You may want to look into the ones WKThursty can make, they seem like a good antenna if you rather not risk it on Ebay. Plus its always nice to give business to others on the thread as we all know.

Good luck with the search.

Re: Shorty Antenna?

Found a 5 inch aluminum antenna at pepboys for $12.99. I don't have a pic of it installed but it has some weight to it and feels solid. Can't say much for the reception. I live in town and hardly use the radio anyhow.

Re: Shorty Antenna?

nice! give us an update on the reception whenever possible, I got one from pepboys at first but I didnt end up liking it. Gave it to a friend who did. I'd be interested in purchasing that one if the recpetion works out well.

Re: Shorty Antenna?

i was gonna say, do these shorty antenna have poorer reception due to the shortness of the antenna or does that not matter at all? i ordered myself a 3" one, will post pics and info on how well ti works, i do use radio a lot and well see if it works good with the nav system!

Re: Shorty Antenna?

I got my 3inch shorty on ebay for 5 dollars shipped. It came with a bunch of universal mounts and one of them fit my jeep.

Re: Shorty Antenna?

Ya I was going to do that but I was not sure which of the metric sizes it would fit. I figured since I found this one at Pepboys and my current antenna was snapped sheared at the base I would try this out and if it did not work I could return it.

Here's a 6 inch universal billet antenna I found on Amazon.com for $23. It came with three adapters for different thread sizes. Very high quality and I was pleasantly surprised how thick it is. Looks great and no stereo signal loss whatsoever.
Model 5206R.
