Problem with HID headlight
I am using oem srt headlights and sometimes my driver low beam wont come on. I have checked grounds and power. The old relay was really corroded so i swapped it with a new relay then used dielectric grease to seal the new relay and protect further damage. Check low beam connection to relay, also sealed with dielectric grease. The light randomly comes on when i flip the switch. The light never turns off if its already on. I think i will change the whole relay harness.

Re: Problem with HID headlight
Could potentially be a faulty ballast at the headlight. When it doesnt come on i would grab a DMM and check your voltage rails, make sure you are getting voltage at the bulb and work your way back down the light to the ballast, relay, fuse ETC

Re: Problem with HID headlight
I think it's because the relay connector is supper corroded

Re: Problem with HID headlight
I am getting 12v voltage all the way to the 9006 connector right before it enters the ballast.

Re: Problem with HID headlight
ye, most likely it's the relay. Happened to me as well, driver side sometimes doesnt fire and eventually both sides wont turn on. New relay =fix!

Re: Problem with HID headlight
Ok swapped relays, light does still not come on. I know its not the bulb because its firing intermittently and bulb is pretty new. So ballast?

Re: Problem with HID headlight
Nope, i dont want to take the whole front bumper off lol. Power is getting to within 3 inches of the ballast lol. and these are the oem lights so i all the other wiring should be fine once it reaches the headlamp housing.

Re: Problem with HID headlight
Ok guys I am supper frustrated, i was working on my car trying to figure out this problem for over 3 hours. If i remove the drivers side headlamp (one that was not working) and plug it into the passenger side relay the light works perfectly. This must mean its a relay problem correct? Well i swapped the relays on the driver side for a spare one i had and it still will not light up. Checked with a voltmeter and power is getting to the plug right before the headlamp. Out of frustration i decided to just plug the headlight directly into the lowbeam wire(bypassing the ballast) and to my surprise the light worked!!! why would the light work connected directly and not through a relay?
