Synthetic in 3.6L??

Just curious if anyone out there uses synthetic oil in their V6? I'm taking delivery of mine tomorrow and wondering if there is as big of a benefit for smaller engines as in the hemis.

I would say so. Synthetic oil doesn't break down nearly as quick as conventional. It will typically last the life of your filter. If you drive only 12K miles a year you would only have to change your 12K oil once a year. You can't do that will conventional. At least I wouldn't recommend it.

I run Mobil 1 5w-30. These motors run alot hotter than I'm used to (220F+)

Syn is GTG - i noticed you're in Chicago - did you check out Field's Jeep? That's where I got mine and got an excellent deal and they flat-bed the Jeep all the way to Ohio too!

No, use the cheap crappy stuff.

Oh, sorry, I mean, yes, use synthetic, buy a computer, and there are cell phones you can carry with you wherever you go. Oh, and they've cured Gout! And we beat the Nazi's! and the Brits before that!... ; )

As long as it meets Chrysler's spec and is 5w30, run what you wish.

How would you be able to tell? It would run lousy on regular oil :)

Switched at 2k for peace of mind. Currently have 9k no issues.

Re: Synthetic in 3.6L??

I have always viewed Synthetic as the better choice simply because it does not break down like conventional oil. I always get 15K Filter and Extended Life Mobil 1. Change once a year regardless of the mileage placed on it. You can typically run a 15K filter around 17K without any problem. But if you are the kind of guy to change oil every 3-5K then I don't think you will notice a difference one way or another. But of course I am the only one with a 3.7L in a different series offering my words.
