Tomorrow I'm taking delivery of my 2013 GC Laredo with X package. I'm really stoked. Only thing it doesnt have is the 20's and a.......hemi. I live in the city of Chicago. I drive about 15 miles a day round trip to and from my office in stop and go traffic. All I find on this site is what seems to be hemi owners saying the V6 is a joke and how its a waste of money to buy a jeep with a v6. My truck has 4x4 and to be honest I want a touch of luxury with options ive never had before, a safe truck for my child and wife, and something that will get me around in the brutal chicago snow. So all you V6 owners....Do you regret NOT getting a hemi? I'll never tow a thing in my life. I just dont see how I would ever need a hemi and I cant believe the thought process of people saying its a waste to get the v6 because the truck underperforms. What is the honest opinion of the V6???
Bullseye - I know what you mean. I took a v6 for a long test drive, putting it through the paces. When I was driving it hard, it felt great - not lacking in power at all - but more casual driving it always seemed to be about 1 gear too high & felt sluggish. I'm waiting for the 14's because I'm pretty sure I want a diesel but depending on the cost difference I may see how much the 8spd helps. I'm guessing its going to help the v6 a lot.
As long as you stick to a tire between 30" and 31" tall the calibrations will be right.
Being a Floridian I am mainly concerned with traction in rain but in general the shorter the sidewall, the lower the compliance and the rougher the ride. It's your choice.
I tow a 20' camper weighing in at 3200#, and it does well at highway speeds. It does shift down into 3rd sometimes in head wind uphill, but never sweat it and keep going. Since I only tow 25% of my annual millage, I enjoy the gas consumption over the hemi in the city. Maybe the 8 speed will be better, but they may have issues too.
