Well, I finally pulled the trigger...

and have decided to say goodbye to the Jeep.

As you can see from my sig, I went a bit nuts on it. Recently, things have started to mount up, struggles to start when hot, clunking from the rear (sway bar), AC compressor needs changed, PS leaking, blend doors...

It was a tough choice, but I can't justify it anymore even though I did just pay it off.

Past year I've been thinking/dreaming of owning a Merc, mainly a C-class. Drove one years ago at work and loved the build quality, shape etc. Went to view a 2004 C200 Avantgarte SE (68k) and a 2003 CLK240 Avantgate SE with every option checked (58k).

Saw the CLK and just feel in love with it, so deposit put down and picking her up next weekend...

Some pics outside the dealer:

The ride is sooo smooth, the 2.6 V6 although no V8 does haul. Love all the toys too, nappa leather, COMAND sat nav, electric everything, leather everywhere, etc... Even has a car phone!!

I'll still check on here from time to time as you guys are great and I of course want to know what Tony is either going to wrap in CF film or get dipped next.

So, thanks for having me I've loved it here.

Oh, you might see my SRT rims and headlights appearing on another Jeep here soon... :p

Guess this song is appropriate for the Jeep. I'll miss her tho...

That's pretty much it Dave, just didn't want to plough anymore into the Jeep and always fancied a Merc. I certainly will be round here checking up on what's happening here - this will probably be my last Jeep though. They are all diesels over here now and that just ain't me!
Hahaha, yeah, less competition round here now huh? :D
Thanks very much and I can't wait to give it a good detailing then thrashing!

Thanks Gus, no one is going to talk me in to wrapping ever again. Been there, done that and have learned a lot!! I must admit I'm gutted there is no woodgrain in the cab, just some silver CF stuff. Some say modern I say less classy.

I'll take you for a spin in her when you come round buddy.

Certainly no immediate plans, Winters coming up so new wheels would be silly now!

Thinking:
18" or 19" staggered rims (will be OEM)
K&N Drop-In filter
Superchips Tuner
LED interior
Paint the calipers blue in Spring
maybe, just maybe, drop it on H&R springs (seen one and looks the nuts)

You could say, I've learned my lesson when it comes to mods and since road tax on this thing is 450 per year and servicing will be expensive I just want to enjoy the beast.

Ideally, in 2-3 years I can trade her in for a either a CLK500 or SL500 - so my plate will actually match the car! :o

Congrats on your baby, those Mercs are amazing and the V6 does pack a punch. At 58k she's still got plenty of life, enjoy it! :)

Ps. Awesome colour!
