Jeep starting on its own...

Ok, my apologies if this has a thread, can't find anything on the WK2 section.

My jeep, a 2011 Overland, started on its own the other day in the driveway. Keys were hanging on the rack. I heard the chirps, so I opened the front door and the engine was running. Grabbed the keys and hit remote start again to kill it. This is the second time this has happened. After the first time, I took it in and got a new set of keys... And now it's happened again.

Anyone else out there with this issue? Solutions?

By the way, on the key... Any re-designs since the first year? I'm waiting for a design change that makes the buttons concave, instead of convex, which was a bad design.

Thank for any help.

Have you got it dirty yet they tend to be a little rambunctious until then.
Seriously mine has a timer that can be set for the auto start ther should be a setting for it.

I think there was a fix for that in the poltergeist TSB.

My 2011 Overland has started on its' own one time in the last two years. It has opened the rear hatch 5 times and triggered the alarm twice. Keys were in my pocket each time.

I'm pretty sure Jeep is so ahead of the curve they added HAL to our models. Next time you'll hear it say "Come drive me, Dave" haha

You may have a defective Key fob? I dunno, if you have two keys, take the battery out of the fob one at a time and see if it continues for each one. Sounds like a stretch I know, but that's where I'd start.

First off the FoBik has been around since 08, they wont change it until they replace it. Next as far as you thinking its the remote start setting it off,try 2 different things 1, when its running go and check to see what items are on (ie the radio display SHOULD be off when in remote start mode) also, If you think this is something that is happening more and more, Pop your hood. The remote start is deactivated with the hood open. Try this, see if it still does it.

Was happening to me also. I fixed it by opening up the FOB, and cleaning the contacts on the chip board. It looked like for the repeated use the contacts from the rubber buttons rubbed off on the chipboard essentially making an open circuit.

Open it up, clean the contacts of the rubber and chipboard and all was OK for me.
