SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

After getting some more seat time in mine, I am very disappointed in the system.

For $2,000 with 825 watts and 18 speakers, I'm not happy about feeling that I have to upgrade the "stock" system.

The vehicle is filled with sound, but the clarity is just not there. :(

Class D (Digital) amplification. Good power, but the clarity isnt even there with high dollar home amps and receivers that are trying to use it. Class D power is usually used for dedicated sub amps. Class A/B is always the way to go, but Class D cant be matched in power for the amps size, plus very low heat. A class A/B amp would be huge to match the power of these little class D guys. Class D is also way more efficient. It prob gets 85% of its actually power out....where a Class A/B amp would get under half and the rest would be just wasted heat it produced.

FYI, I think I read that our amps use a converted internal 36 volt supply bar!

Hammerhead/Mongoose, is there a breakdown somehwere of what the actual watts/channel (with RMS and distortion ratings) of the amp(s) are?

I've found the specs on the type of the speakers used so far.

FYI...it's light years ahead of the kicker upgraded sound system of the WK, and going off of memory, cost as an option was about the same. I realize that doesn't help your problem, but I'd be interested to see if there is any stock system that matches your audiophile requirements, and the price on that system.

I think for a factory system it sounds good.

I'm a total audiophile and I think the system rocks. Yours must have an issue :(

it would be terribly hard to build a custom 19 speaker system for 2 grand. For the money its legit.

Just out of curiousity, what is your source of audio?

Some of my Sat. channels sound better than others, but I get the same thing in the wifes car. What bothers me is when using bluetooth with Itunes on an Iphone, the source input is so low that you can turn the volume all the way up and it not be loud at all. Its not this way on all music, but a lot of older recordings are this way. Anyone know if you can raise the input level for the bluetooth feature?

Original CD's ("store-bought") uncompressed audio.
