2011 Grand Cherokee XenonDepot complete bulb replacement

Just wanted to give some HUGE props to Steve and his crew over at XenonDepot (KBcarstuff.kizzle)
So after contacting Steve about doing the entire rig, I ordered half of the bulbs first. I went off my car manual and the forum’s posts for what should have been my bulbs. What a mistake. After getting the bulbs from Steve, popping out the lenses, half of them were not the bulb that was in my Jeep. Completely different. Not the fault of Steve, but my Jeep for some reason isn’t the same as most. I took photos of the bulbs so that he could see the number on the bulb and emailed. After reading my email and identifying the actual bulbs in my Jeep, Steve sent me replacements without hesitation.

All the bulbs inside my Jeep were some version of the 194 except the vanity lights which were the smallest festoon.
Vanity bulbs listed as V26377, I had TS14VICP. Replaced with PhilipsBlueVision C5W569 Festoon 6k
Cargo bulbs listed as 214–2 a festoon type, I had Toshiba 12v8wx.
Grab handles listed as L002825W5W, I had Toshiba 12v6wx.
Dome bulbs listed as VT4976, I had Toshiba 12v6wx,
Footwell bulbs listed as HT906, I had HT906
Glove box is listed as a 194, I had Toshiba 12v6wx
I installed Phillips Blue Vision 129666000KX2 6000k bulbs everywhere inside. What a 100% difference and an amazing look. Installation of all these was pretty simple. Two small computer flat head screw drivers was enough to pop the lenses out. Including the rear cargo lights. If you take a flashlight and look at the lenses, you can see the pins. Just push one screwdriver in at the pin, pry real easy and it should pop right up. Use the other to pop the lens out. Take your time with the bulbs that are set back, they do come out.

2nd half of the bulbs ordered.

Installed my Xenon Xtreme Digital XT-H11 5000k and again, couldn’t be more happy. Not to blue at all, almost like a frost ice look. Had to call Steve for help on the polarity, which ended up being a piece of cake to change the pins inside the connectors. HID’s where now installed. To install the HID’s, I took off the air filter and components at the driver side and a small fuse block on the passenger side. Reach in, turned the bulb housing and it came right out. Mounted resistors, ran wires and covered everything up with split loom. Do yourself a favor and don’t rush this.

Installed Osram Night Breaker 5000k 9005NBPHCB for the high beams. When I first drove the Jeep and used the high beams, I just laughed. These bulbs travel quite a distance and light it up. Simply awesome. Install for these were the same place as the Low beams.

Went to install the DRL’s and what do ya know, a different bulb. Everything points to a 3157, but I had HT7444NA’s. Photo’d bulb, emailed Steve, and again without hesitation, sends me the correct bulbs. I was impressed because this was no fault of XenonDepot. My original DRL was an orange bulb, but I went with the 287431W – 7443 White. DRL’s were probably the toughest to install. The angle your arm has to get in to reach and turn the bulb is odd.

I replaced the fogs PSX24W with H16/5202 Putco Halogen Performance Bulbs Ion Spark White. Pretty easy to change out. Undo the pins at the wheel well and the one screw. Pull back the cover and secure against the tire and right in front of you is the fog light housing. Couldn’t be any easier. After installing the fogs, I didn’t like the Ion Spark White color because it didn’t match the DRL’s or Lows. I was a little hesitant to call Steve to say I didn’t like the color. Didn’t even phase him, he was going to replace them with another, but I decided to just go with the Xenon Xtreme Digital HID 5000k to match the lows. The combination of Fogs, Lows and DRL’s looks great. I made sure to lower the beams from the HID’s so as to not blind anyone coming towards me.

Since XenonDepot does not have a rear taillight kit, I had ordered a WK2 RFLUK from Tailight Solutions at the same time I ordered the first set of bulbs. This is a really cool product Tailight Solutions has. I’ve had two people ask me to roll down my window and ask about how I got the lights to work. Really easy to install using their directions. I changed out their reverse bulb and put in a Putco Neutron 287401W Of course I broke two of the pins to get to the tail light. Use the two small screwdrivers to pop the pins out. Take your time and go slow lifting the pins up. Great product. Thank you Tailight Solutions.

While I had the tailgate up, I changed out the tailgate reverse lights W16W to Putco Neutron 921 W16W. With these two reverse bulbs, backing up at night is awesome. Everything behind me is lit up. No need to completely take off the tailgate panel. Pry the panel up with a flat head slowly at the bottom corner and use fingers to un snap the pins until you can reach the bulbs. Really easy. You can reach the Cargo bulbs housing from here if needed from replacing cargo bulbs.

2nd set of bulbs arrive.

I changed the front orange side markers W5W with 194 High Power Amber. This is probably the easies to change besides the Fog lights. Undo the pins and one screw at the tire well. Turn your tires to the left to get to the right tire well and to the right to get to the left tire well. Once the tire well guard is up and secure, you can see all the lights. Turn bulb housing, pull out, replace and put back.

As I go to test drive the Jeep, I put the blinker on and I get the rapid flash message. Once again, I call Steve and once again, without any hesitation, he sends me a set of resistors to put at the blinker. 4 days later, resistors arrive. Now my manual says I have a T20 Front Park/Turn bulb. I haven’t seen this bulb. My DRL is the blinker. I spliced in the resistor to the blinker wire (there are 2 wires at the assembly) and BINGO. No more message.

Not sure if everyone that has installed the Xtreme HID Kits knows this, but the fuse holders can all be attached to each other by sliding front of one into back of other. Makes installation looks good. I used split loom to hide my wires and zip ties to hold everything in place.

I know this was long, but I had to post about how professional Steve and his crew at XenonDepot (KBcarstuff) were. Absolutely no hassles or gripes about how many times I called. Without a doubt, I recommend XenonDepot for not only their product, but their customer service as well. Thanks for making a 3 month project turn out great. Exactly how I was hoping it would look.

I will post photos soon

Now on to the Golf Cart.

Sorry but you made a bad choice in letter coloring that it can't even be read.

Depends on your background screen color choice. I have grey ground so his letters are royal blue. They are legible but a little PITA.

Maybe it's easier to read after you stare at LED bulbs for awhile first.

If someone can point me in the direction on how to change the color, I will. I typed it in a word doc and copied it over. I had no idea it was a color.

Also, the site will not let me use Skydrive to post photos

Joe,
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this informative thread! It has been a pleasure working with you as well =)

For anyone that is interested in doing this upgrade here are some links to the some of the products that were used (correct me if i'm wrong Joe):

Xtreme HID Kit: This was used to upgrade the low beams and fog lights to HID.

Philips T10 194 LED bulbs: Used to upgrade the interior map lights, license plate lights, and parking lights.

9005 Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs: Used to upgrade the OEM high beam bulb to brighter halogen bulbs.

Philips 212-2 LED bulb: Used to upgrade the vanity lights to LED.

921 LED bulb: Used to upgrade the reverse lights.

Steve

Way, way down at the bottom of this page, on the left. Mine is set to Black Night. I do not know how it would handle something copied from another doc.
