Throttle Lag?

Seems to be a real issue. Sorry if I am reposting-new user-have wanted a GC for-EVER and was WAS about to buy an 09-10 but with so many posts about the throttle lag I am unsure.
I have a post on the first thread but no good responses. Is it real-is there a fix?
My plan was CAI, CatBack and Diablo
then headers and SRT Intake and SRT CaM-I may get a used 13 before that though.
I have read the Booster, the throttle module thing, disabling the MDS, the engine off key on throttle mash
who buys a HEMI and NOT want power unless the salesman sees a gimme commission?

I had lag pretty bad. Compared to the other jeep products i have owned and just recently had mine tuned by ryan and it seems to have gone away. I set the tuner to 87 performance but i would imagine any of the performance tune would do this as well.

Re: Throttle Lag?

A poorly maintained Hemi will lag. Mine has 85k on it and has zero lag at ay RPM, runs like a champ, and that is on a stock tune. Anyone disabling MDS has other issues, as I cannot even tell when the MDS is on. The problems with a lagging Hemi are easy and cheap to fix, as these motors are robust. Do not get a CAI or exhaust, as those are a total waste of cash, make the throttle lag worse, and low end torque is lost.

The lag is real. It's the nature of drive by wire systems.

Lack of maintenance can and will amplify the lag. Same goes for any vehicle, don't maintain it and it will eventually run like crap.

There is nothing wrong with deleting MDS, it is a matter of personal preference.

Most CAIs are useless due to heat soak compared to the stock offering, but the 5.7 has alot to gain from a proper exhaust setup.

RYAN , when they say 87 tune is that octane? Does the Diablo Sport do the same thing? Do I have to send you my ECU? Do I sound like a newbie? LOL

I don't do Diablo tuning, I did at one point (long story), I may again at some point in the near future . For now, I do SCT tuning which for the WK only covers '05-'06.

87 refers to the octane, yes.

Depends on the mileage. If throttle response is not immediate, I would do the following. First thing to get for a hemi is a BT catch can, about 100 bucks, and give it a full Seafoam treatment (oil, gas and vac line) to free up the sticking MDS lifters and clean out all the carbon buildup. If there is no catch can on a higher mileage hemi, the buildup will be significant. Then I would bolt on the MM 85 mm variable ported TB, about a 10 minute job, and if over 60k, new EGR, new MAP sensor, new PCV. All three together are about 75 bucks (not from dealer), and after doing it once, I could do all three in about 30 minutes total labor time.

Re: Throttle Lag?

all I can say is did the 87 Performance tune on a SCT 9550 From Ryan and Lag is gone...

spent $325 !. I do run Seafoam though on Occasion , to clean the injectors ,etc.
