Another Aussie Ripoff

Search eBay for "jeep plastic rivets" and you get "adelaideparts" selling one, that is one rivet, for $5 plus $9 postage. I asked the question and the seller confirmed that the price is for one rivet only. From ClipsAndFasteners.com one can get a pack of 25 for $5.33 plus $9.34 postage from the States. This guy makes Chrysler Aust. look good.

Hey Bob,

Dump the rivets and use fasteners as Donsteph has over in the WK2 SRT forum. Check it out here ... http://www.jeepgarage.org/f162/bumpe...tml#post688952

Much better for future removal of flares and trim. clipsandfasteners are probably still the best bet for price, though I think using screws is better than using rivets.

Point taken. For fastening plastic, I actually like plastic rivets, particularly the push-in plastic fasteners. There is nothing to rattle loose and hopefully they give before the bodywork tears. I bought quite a few assorted fasteners from clipsandfasteners. I even got a small plastic rivet gun. Unfortunately, most aluminium pop rivet guns don't accept the thicker shank of the plastic rivets.

Actually, while $5 per rivet is terrible, that is what the dealerships in the US are selling them for as well (at least mine). Luckily, another post on this forum sent me to Harbor Freight for the kit for under $20.
