power cuts at 3500 prm

hi

I have a strange issue, when pushing my 2004 2.7 grand Cherokee it pulls great until it reaches 3500 rpm, at that point it looses power for a second and the engine light comes on.

it went in to a jeep dealership and after two and a half weeks they cant seem to find the problem, they replaced sensors, cat, vacuum pipes, and the turbo, but to no avail...

does anyone know what this could be?

Not sure if the 2.7 is the same, but on the hemi those symptoms would indicate that timing was off.

Thanks for the reply, it makes sense. Now its just to try and ask the dealership to listen to a customer to make a suggestion....

Wouldn't timing cause it to well bend valve?

Phone another mechanic that specializes in jeep, and he said he got it before aswell, and said its most properly something to do with the throttle body, or something related, I'm not sure as i don't know anything about engines...

If timing is just off a half tooth, it would still generate his symptoms but not neccessarily bend a valve.
I was off a half tooth on one of my cars, pulled like a bear up to around 3k-3500 and then it was like hitting a brick wall and through a CEL.

Again, just to be clear, this was all on hemi engines.

2.7 = Diesel if I have my facts straight.

Before the problem, where did the end loose power? Tb or EGR (if it has egr) would be my guess.
