Shift procedure 4WD HI
Hi everyone. I am having some difficulty understanding the correct shift procedure when utilizing the 4WD in my 2007 GC 4WD with Quadro2. The manual says to initiate the shift to 4WD LO by putting the transmission into Neutral, then raising the T-handle. The 4WD LO light shows up on the instrument cluster and stays on. I assume the system is operating correctly, because mine does exactly as the manual describes. However, my question is in regards to the 4WD HI option. The manual says to once again raise the T-Handle in order to shift from LO to HI. When I do this, the 4WD LO light in the instrument cluster simply turns off. So here is where I get confused. Is the vehicle now operating the 4WD HI even though there are no lights on in the instrument cluster? Also, does the vehicle remain in 4WD HI after I park and turn the vehicle off? Now I admit I am a newbie to this system, but I do not recall reading that the Cherokee always is set in 4WD HI, which to me indicates that I may have some problems with my 4WD HI. Could someone please explain me if this is normal, or if I should have the vehicle looked at?
Thanks so much for your help!

Re: Shift procedure 4WD HI
Thanks for your reply. I assume this particular 4WD system is always in 4WD HI, unless you manually shift it into Neutral or LO? This would be similar to vehicles with AWD, which cannot be switched off, correct? Does this also mean there is no chance of accomplishing a rearwheel burnout? :)

Re: Shift procedure 4WD HI
Yep, yours is working just as it should.

When not in 4-Low you are in 4-High. There is nothing in the dash cluster, as this is the normal operating mode.

I don't think it's possible to do a RW burnout...
