No kick down!

We bought a 2005 Jeep GC CRD 3.0L auto 2 weeks ago. The day after delivery, the kick down started to malfunction. Even by depressing the pedal to the floor no kick down whatsoever. If you switched off completely and then on again, the problem was cleared. However on 1st Oct on using it no kick down at all no matte what I tried. Vehicle changes gear okay up and down as per normal, just no kick down.
The car dealer took the Jeep to the Jeep franchise on 3rd Oct and they have had it ever since and cannot find the fault. On 4 test runs, the fault showed up on the second test run while the mechanic was driving and again on the 4th occasion. Problem is no fault code is coming up to show where the problem lies.
As we tow a caravan (trailer) we really need the kick down plus for overtaking. It seems no one else has come across this problem previously so we are stuck as piggy in the middle!
Jeep dealer still has the Jeep and is no further ahead with it than they were on Wednesday!

Speak with where your bought the vehicle from, speaker with the dealership that currently has the jeep.

Maybe the dealer that sold it would be willing to buy it back.

I'm not familiar with laws and such in the UK but in the states me have a "lemon law" but there are usually steps and hoops you need to jump through to get that to work out in your favor.

If they can't fix it, ask them what options you have. You'll mst likely need to give them more then a few days.

Re: No kick down!

The Jeep dealer seems to have located the fault which was a faulty wiring loom that controls the turbo boost. They were not 100% sure whether they had cleared the fault, but said that the only way is for us to use the Jeep and see if the problem reoccurs. Used the Jeep yesterday and no issues so here is hoping!

Although I got a copy of the invoice for our own and perhaps future use, the costs were removed. The Jeep dealer used up half a tank of fuel or did approximately 270 miles in the Jeep over the 4 days they had it.
When i collected the Jeep from them it was showing "0" miles to empty. I refuse to drive it in case I ran out of fuel as we had no idea where the nearest service station was located. They then went and put in 10 fuel and asked me for the money! Not a happy bunny on that aspect, but at least I got back the Jeep.

they made you pay for the gas they used while finding out what's wrong with your jeep ? jeez.. my dealership did something like this, but it was with a saftey belt!, i called chrystler, and soon after everything was free, no gas consumption on their end though.
