Springy Tranny Dipstick ????

Hi All,
The more I read on here the more OCD I become
I pulled the tranny dipstick to check levels but when I put it back in it springs back out about 1/2 ".
Is this normal? Doesn't matter if engine is on or off or if I spin it 180.
Can I straighten the 'kink' slightly to see if that helps.
If anyone says this is terminal tranny failure I'll shart  !!!
Cheers
Paul.
PS - thread title is a good name for a band too:D

I don't know if mine does that to a 1/2", but it definitely does spring back a little. It never seems to seat all the way down on the tube. (That's what she said). I'd say you're fine, and it's normal...and to not mess/straighten it at all.

Definitely normal.

I used to cover that tube up when cleaning the motor - just in case!

Mine is also the same.

Its normal, the dipstick is just hitting the bottom of the tranny pan. Trying to straighten it would make it slightly longer and read more fluid than there really is.

Mine does it as well, but when i turn it around 90 when inserting, it stays flush. When it pops out too much, you have a change that dust/dirt can enter the fill tube and comes into the fluid.
