mopar express lane -- express is used loosely.

Brought my WK2 into my local Jeep dealer today for it's first oil change. I don't usually let the dealer perform regular service but I got 2 free changes when I purchased the vehicle. The dealership is advertising "Mopar Express Lane" marketing campaign, signs everywhere touting a quick lube service. I called them in advance, to ask about an appointment, and they said to just come down.

Well I go in, fill out the paperwork and hand over the keys. The service rep says to me, there is one car ahead of you, it should be about 45 minute wait before we get started, done in an hour. Since when did it take 45-60 minutes to complete 2 oil changes? I was completely shocked. I could have bought all the supplies and changed it myself in that time. What do they have 1 guy working with the wrong tools or something?

So I start to complain about the wait, not quite understanding the express component of their service. The guy actually tells me that's the normal wait at the dealership, if I come back later it will still be 45 minutes and I cannot make an appointment. Well, I split and 15 minutes later the local quick lube had finished the service, I would still have been waiting at least another 30 minutes at the Jeep dealer.

Do others have similar experience?? Is this really the level of service I should expect from the Express Lane? So much for the 2 free oil changes, my time is worth more then the $30 I would save.

The Acura dealer I use takes about that long. But, they have a nice waiting room and free wifi. I bring a tablet, and the hour I spend online while there, saves me an hour of online time when I get home.

If no wifi, bring whatever you read at home, be it a book or a magazine. Time will fly by ... if you let it.

Anything with dealers is a pain and why would any of us bother with them expect for Warranty issues. I say get rid of the dealers they overcharge and underdeliver.
Most delaers fail to understand the concept of service /Customer service. I head an employee at the a local dealer the other day say - This would be a fablous job if not for the customers" what does he not understand about customers and who pays his wages.

Wife took our GC in for its first lube service (free of course) and the quick service was. 30 minutes in and out. She hooked up to the free wifi and drank their free bottled water while ignoring the TV and WSJ. When I go, it'll be the WSJ and coffee for me. Only one data point but our dealership has a decent waiting room. Not as nice as the BMW dealers we use, but then the BMW guys charge a little more for their cars although free service for 4 years is nice.

Call me crazy-- my last jeep dealer gave me 4-5 yrs of FREE oil changes at the dealership.. biggest PITA if you ask me.. I like going to valvoline or a place where I stay in the car. goto the dealership the seats moved, oil on the wheel and shifter..no shitty waiting room with gum on the carpet or a couch I wouldn't let my dog sleep on and kids playing with dirty toys in the corner.. no thanks!

Quick lube is like fast food.. it's neither fast or food =)

I drop mine off at 9AM and pick it up at 5PM. Who has time to sit in a waiting room?

Be sure to check it over for scratches, dents, or other damage.

I like watching the service, I'd rather be standing, or sitting, a few feet from the tech then isolated in a waiting room, regardless of the frills, well, as long as they are G rated. For example I learned that the new V6 has the oil filter installed from the top of the engine compartment... never seen an oil filter like that before. My local quick lube also includes a free car wash, and my car was filthy today. I did elect for the Quaker State Conventional 5W30 oil this time, but I figure I'll cut over to Mobil 1 Syn around 10K miles.

It's more the double standard here. All that MOPAR EXPRESS advertising and then a 45 minute wait.

I got 2 years of free oil changes when i bought my jeep but i dint use a single one of them. I would rather do it myself than spend an hour or so at the dealer hopeing they dont damage anything

Last week I dropped into the dealer to get the Nitrogen topped up in my tires before Winter. I decided i could use an oil change while I was there. The express lube guys were MIA for the better part of half an hour. When I mentioned it to the service advisor, she priced my oil change at the regular oil change price instead of the synthetic that I ordered. One other time the oil change took too long because they had stripped the thread on the drain plug and they threw in the synthetic oil change for free after they replaced the drain plug with a new one. I get a good result even if they mess up.:)

I quit going to those quick lube places years ago. I found they usually only have one person who knows whats going on and that is usually the manager. Its all about speed and getting the cars through at those places thats why its only 15 minutes. I would rather wait the 45 minutes and have a quality job.
