Beware of wheel seller Direct Performance (eBay ID: direct)

Hi folks. Just want to warn you that those aholes burned me with fake SRT wheels with an identical auction like this on eBay:

NEW Genuine JEEP Grand Cherokee SRT8 HyperSilver 20 WHEELS TIRES TPMS SRT-8 | eBay

After acknowledging SRT wheels should have factory markings (see attached picture), and video proof the ones they sent me didn't have any, they insisted they were OEM. Nothing worse than incompetent crooks. Hope this helps you make an informed SRT wheel buying decision. Could have bought the replicas I got for at least a grand less. And of course they're not forged, like OEMs. Oh well. Hope karma pays them back :D. And I'm doing what I can to expose those weasels and prevent others from getting burned, like I did.

Won't be checking back here since have an SRT now. By the way, the WKII SRT wheels fit and look great on WKII Grand Cherokees. I was the first to try them, so now you can be confident they fit properly. Bought those wheels several months ago, so I'm stumped there were replicas back then; that's why I never suspected, and trusted those creeps. Live and learn. Have a good one folks.

Im still very confused by this because I was not aware of any aftermarket ones in those sizes as well and this was a while ago.
I too added OEM SRT wheels to my Overland and posted extensive pictures on it in my pictures threads. Ofcourse I didnt have any of the issues you did and got mine for $2300 shipped to my door (brand new zero mile takeoffs with Scorpion all seasons). Fitment is great and the look is even better, only drawback is they are extremely heavy and fuel economy did drop and was measureable. Not a huuuuge amount, but I did lose a couple.

There is a whole knock off industry and as you noticed the OEM markings on the back of the wheel are not there. Not saying all are bad but have heard of cheap ones breaking under load, not something you want to happen in an evasive manoever.

Ones sign may be a wheel with a slow leak.

The 8th photo on their auction page shows the factory markings. If the ones you received don't have those markings or have different markings, you can file a claim with ebay/paypal.

Here's the sellers photo. You should have no problem with a dispute if that's not what you received.

I would dispute that too much money for reps send them back for refund, I think PayPal has a fraud report info to get money back.

Directly from the eBay ad!!!

Genuine JEEP vs. "Aftermarket REPLICA"

Well ... because they are JUST SO STUNNING - sure enough - unscrupulous parties have chosen to make AFTERMARKET REPLICAS of these wheels. eBay is literally CRAWLING with these horrid fakes - and are you ready for this?! SOME EVEN HAVE SRT STAMPED ON THEM!!! If the seller writes "OEM STYLE" or "JEEP SRT8 STYLE", then they are NOT FACTORY!!
I have inspected these replica wheels, and have found them to be far inferior in quality to the OEM/Factory JEEP wheels. It does not matter what a seller writes, I have seen said replica wheels - crack! Are you really going to take your life in your hands, just to save a couple of bucks?! BE SURE TO SEE THE CHRYSLER EMBLEM ON THE BACK FOR AUTHENTICITY. There ARE junky aftermarket wheels in this beautiful style all about on eBay - be careful!

Why go with other eBay wheels/tires that are USED or AFTERMARKET JUNK? You drive a JEEP! Make a BOLD statement with these GORGEOUS RARE Factory HYPERSILVER 20" wheels! And rest assured - when these wheels/tires arrive and you open the boxes -

PUT YOUR SUNGLASSES ON AND BEHOLD!
They gleam and look ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

He stated "identical auction" which I took to mean exactly the same ad by the same seller.

Re: Beware of wheel seller Direct Performance (eBay ID: direct)

Hey folks, I'm over the 'WKII SRT' forum, but I'm around the site :D.

Those creeps added those photos after my complaints. They might or might not be what you get. If they are in the wheel business, they sure as hell should check the freaking wheels they get/buy before claiming they're OEM. The ad for my wheels was IDENTICAL to the posted one. As I mentioned, the problem I had is if you want to buy from them, you have to pay thru Paypal. And since I bought the SRT as a business car, I was going to pay the wheels with a business credit card. Well, Paypal does NOT accept business credit cards. So I was basically forced to buy the wheels outside eBay, and pay via a wire transfer. So I'm not protected by them. But to be brutally honest, one time I had a dispute, and stupid eBay ruled in my favor (duh, I was robbed too), BUT didn't give me any money back because they couldn't recover anything. So much for piece of mind. And yes, those guys could have been duped with my wheels. But if you're incompetent, at least don't be a crook and do the right thing and own up to your mistake. After providing a VERY CLEAR video with evidence the wheels were fake, they blew me off. I'm sure karma will take care of them :D.

Finally, this announcement was with the intent to prevent this crap from happening to anybody else. BE CAREFUL out there folks. If you don't have somebody you trust pick up the wheels. Or can't get them yourself, I'd honestly pass. It's too much money at stake. I just posted my wheels on eBay (of all places) starting at $2K, but fully disclosed they have to be fake due to no markings. Rather lose a couple of grand than knowing I'm screwing somebody, like they did with me. And yes, I never tought there were fakes back then, but live and learn. Don't want to treat everybody like a criminal, but at the same time, we can't be stupid and assume somebody is honest either. Lesson learned. Take care gang.
