247 help?

ok anyone who lives in the lower northeast just got pounded with snow and i just put a new t-case in my wj its the same 247 as the old one i got it from lkq so i went out today in the snow i have BAD binding on hard right or left turns going straight or slight turns is fine however and even when the 4-wheel worked in my old case this never happened, now lkq has a warranty on there cases so im gonna change both half shafts and the front DS tomorrow cuz its the stupid cv style so i hope that stops it i was just wondering if anyone knows what the real problem is before i go and blow a couple hundred bucks, thanks for any help!

That's usually a sign of a bad T case

Re: 247 help?

You can't see the front CV's for the most part. Only part that is even potentially visable is where it goes throught the front spindles. I would not replace them just to do it but when it's needed. If you have the money to spare then go for it but I don't have money like that. Your DS should never need replaced, only the U joint(S).

Re: 247 help?

My cv joints need replacing i removed one of the boots and the ball bearing has let go and the balls are free, and as far as spare money i hear ya there but there only 40 bucks a peice, my front drive shaft as some earlier wj owners know has no U-joints it works off of a CV joint system and is broken without a doubt, unfortunetly the cv ends cant be replaced the whole DS has to be unless there is a repair kit im not aware of

Re: 247 help?

it is about the same skill and effort as swapping rotors and calipers, but a lot less expensive... Grab an HD and a rear DS, and good to go. I just did it last week, and it ripped through the snow.

There are a million write ups about it, read them all, it will be a piece of cake. Note, get a seal puller, and replace the transmission rear output seal, and the TC input seal. 10 bucks each, and about 2 minutes. They will leak if you don't, then you will have to go back again...

Good luck.
