Adding the Single Kicker Sub to my WK

So I have the AVIC F90BT but have all the harnesses and interfaces so I run the stock BA system upgraded to the Kicker stuff.

question:

I have the single Kickler sub and amp:

Do I install them according the instructions so they integrate with the stock wiring amp and crossovers

or

Do I run them directly to the SubWoofer RCAs on the AVIC unit?

And WHY?

Thanks
Rob

I have a pioneer avic z2 installed in my jeep. I too have the kicker upgrade and the single sub. Mine is wired as per instructions and it works great. Thats what I'd suggest you do. Its the easiest way to go. Besides, I dont think you can run it direct since its intended as a plug-n-play set up and it has no RCA hook ups. I have a few pics of the box taken apart. The amp inside is tiny. You could remove the amp from inside the box and wire it to a separate amp but that defeats the purpose. If you want to wire it direct to the radio outputs, get a different box and sell that one. I am sure you can buy a way better box and amp with what you get for it. I have considered doing just that. I just have too many projects going at the same time and haven't gotten around to it. I hope this helps. Good luck !

Robpp,

Since your running an aftermarket radio and have the the upgraded stock system I assume you have an interface, right ? Do you know which one you're using ? You see, I have the peripheral chy-XXX something and when it was installed, I lost my front to rear fade. I'm just wondereing if you have the same issue. This is totally unrelated to what I wrote earlier.

As Jeepaholic said, hooking the Kicker sub/amp up per the instructions will be fine. The amp will receive the signal from the BA amp and get its remote turn on via the BA amp.

You'll lose fade when utilizing the factory Boston amp. The factory CD player communicated fade with the BA amp, so when you went aftermarket, you lost that ability.

My question to you is, since I have two amps hooked up in the rear, if I hook up the rear door speakers to the amp that goes to the rear RCA output of the radio, will I be able to fade then ?
