2005 GC Ltd question, actually three

I want to install a few options my 05 GC does not have.

First, I want to install an OEM backup camera. I have upgraded my head unit to the Mygig RER nav unit from an 08. There is a camera unit on ebay from a 09 junker. The camera appears to be in a stone white accent strip, just like mu body color. My question is will the 09 accent strip fit the 05. The body style change did not happen until 10 so I'm guessing it will.

Second, I want to install OEM front seat warmers. The catch is I want to have the buttons funtional in the dash info center instead of the switches that mount on the console as the factory aftermarket ones are. Can this be done? Is the wiring already there and just plug and play?

Third, I want to install a rearview mirror with the bluetooth mic in it. Is there any difference in any of the Jeep BT capable mirrors from 05-10?

Thanks for any help.

The strip, or brow, or liftgate handle, should fit your 05. I can't help with your other two questions. The RER, is that the touch screen nav unit? How was the retrofit to the 05? Did you have to replace the OEM antenna?

Those are three expensive mods to add.... The camera can be added but needs dealer activation and they will likely charge you $100 unless you have a friend there.

The seats can not be added unless you buy the mopar kit and then the buttons will not look factory. This will also need dealer activation.

You need the uconnect module to add the uconnect mirror.

If you really want them done i would do them all prior to going to the dealer to save yourself some money on the activation, they will charge less doing everything at once

I just saw that you have an rer.... That has a built in uconnect module so you only need a $20 mic to have the uconnect feature, no need to buy the mirror

Yes, the RER is a touch screen unit. The retro fit was a piece of cake. From Ebay I bought the RER, the Lock Pick, GPS antenna and Bezel filler insert. Bought the nav/radio dash bezel from the local Jeep dealer. I did have to install the program that fixes the clock set problem. OEM antenna lead plugs right in to the unit. Everything works great and looks factory. Not a cheap upgrade though. The total was almost $1000.00.

I know about a visor mic. I want to have it built into the mirror. I can buy a BT Jeep mirror for a little over a hundred bucks. Add another C note for the wiring harness. Just don't like the visor mic setup. Also, I can get a mirror with smart beam as well.

None of these mods needs a dealer activation. They are plug and play. I just wanted to know if there were any input/plug/firmware differences between the REC Nav radios installed from 05 to 07 and the the RER starting in 08. Even now when I go into reverse the radio automaticly looks for a camera input. Of course it's black because of no image.

The seat heater dash buttons connect to the vehicle harness through a cluster plug on the back of that button strip. The cluster plug has specific pin configurations for the options installed that are activated by the buttons. If an option isn't installed, the pins for those buttons aren't present. Still, the plug has all the wiring into the vehicle harness. I'm guessing the general wiring harness already has the runs for the seat warmers. They're just not connected to anything. Anyone know if this is a reasonable assumption?

the black screen in reverse is becuse you have the wrong settings on your lockpick, not the radio. you need to flip one of the switches on the lockpick.

why do you want to buy a mirror for over $100 and a harness for around $180 and pay to have the dealer calibrate the sensor (about $300 for calibration of smartbeam) when you can add a $20 mic that is hidden and no one will see? it does not go on the visor. there is no reason for a uconnect mirror when it is already built into the rer. i have that exact setup in my jeep..... btw smartbeam sucks. i had it for a week and resold it because it got annoying quick. plus it isnt needed with hids

To do what? There's no video input so there's no picture. It does display a message to check behind the vehicle when I shift into reverse so it's not totally black. There is an image, just not a picture.

if you flip the switch then it will not even show up in reverse.
