snow

Want to get winter tires.
was hoping to wait to see if I could buy Vapor black wheels to put pirelli scorpion ice and snows on.
Unfortunately I may have waited too long.
I can't find Prelli Scoprion ice and snows in stock size anywhere...Tire Rack says due 12/28.
so tire rack offers the following choice:
new wheels (wanted winter wheels anyway)..KMC D2 20X8.5....these have a +35 offset a 5 bolt 127 pattern. Then they fit them with the same pirelli ice and snow but in a 275-50-20 size....so a little narrower (which I think is good for cutting thru snow). They GUARANTEE they will fit. They SAY they have actually put this wheel/tire combo on a 2012 SRT8.
out the door cost with TPMS/Shipping is $3000
what does everybody think?

agree, i learned my lesson two winters ago and did the same thing. i thought i could get the tires i wanted in october but all were sold out. when i got this jeep, i bought the tires in august. i guarantee it won't happen to you again. if you have the all season OEM's you should be fine for one season, just don't go out in a blizzard!

Re: snow

unfortunately I have the three season pirelli zeros. so can't count on them at all.

scott, sorry for being dense, but direct me to what exactly you mean by gen 1 replicas and where do I find them? I sure don't care what these look like.

thanks

Re: snow

got lucky.
decided to call Tire Rack again and talk to a different sales person.
tell him what car I drive. he says "Ralph Gilles is a friend of mine, but you don't even know who he is." I said "yes I do and told him." so now the guy and I are friends. I tell him I was hoping for the Vapor wheels. He says they are not available but that he has been in the Vapor with Ralph at a track in Michigan...So I decide to tell him about wanting the Pirellis...but the web site says they have "less than 2" (whatever that means) in stock...He says "I have a list that says I have access to 5 of them, you want all? I said no just four. Then bought OZ Grandtourismo wheels. Still thinking maybe this is not going to work. But I just got an email saying they shipped already. So I am happy again

Re: snow

For those that have been in snow with the ALL season Verdes, how did they do on the SRT8? We get a little snow here in Montana, so I am curious. :)
