Front end noise 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The first 10-15 minutes of driving, there is no unusual noises while driving, but after that it starts sqeaking, then a little while later, it sounds like a small metal piece clanking around on another piece of metal. I checked the differential fluid, because thats where the sound seems to be coming from. I can't figure it out. I don't know why it'd be quiet during the first 10-15 minutes of driving.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Re: Front end noise 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Sometimes as parts warm up they can start making more noises. There are lots of moving parts in the front end so there are lots of things to check. Does it happen all the time, or is it just while turning, accelerating, etc? Could be coming from bearings inside the diff, the front drive shaft, the axle cv joints, hubs, tie rods, etc. One easy visual thing to check is to make sure there are no rips in the CV joint boots. You can also crawl under and try and wiggle the control arms, tie rod, drag link, track bar, shocks, etc and see if anything is loose.
