Battery Drain

I have a 2000 GC V8 that recently has developed a problem with the battery running down. The battery has a slow drain and after a couple of weeks of no use the battery will be down to zero. The battery is about 2 years old and I recently had it checked and they said the battery is fine, just needs needs charging. Did that, and a couple of weeks later same problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Battery Drain

No light(s) staying on all the time? (underhood light for example)
The only way to find the cause is to put an amp meter at one battery terminal and remove one by one the fuses, until the current drops significantly. There is however always some drainage, due to memory functions, but that is not that much. Also the BCM has a timer, which keeps several components powered for a certain time. When i'm not wrong it can take up to 30 minutes to time out all those. Don't mess with doors in the meantime, because the counter could be reset and start all over again.

Re: Battery Drain

Before checking every circuit in the car, if you can, disconnect the battery, charge it, and check it over the next week or so. Just because somebody said the battery checks out, doesn't mean it is holding a charge over time.

If it holds the charge when disconnected, blame the Jeep. If it still loses it's charge, you know what to do.
