P0161 every few days
Hi All,
Just one of the niggles with the Jeep.
Everey few days this code pops up and I just plug in the reader and clear it off - reader says o2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2/2 or something like that.
I don't understand why it takes a few days to re-appear if the sensor is bad??
The Jeep runs fine apart from a drive train clunk which I'm looking for and still reading other peoples posts before I post.
I pretty sure I've got the 4 sensor package on mine. Can you just change the 1 sensor?? I also read only to use Denso - is there somehwere in the UK these are easily sourced from?

Re: P0161 every few days
Yes, use dealer or Denso o2 sensors, other brands will cause problems. The 2/2 sensor however is a downstream sensor, so either its trying to tell you one of the cat's is bad or the sensor is bad, but the downstream sensors are not used for fuel trim adjustments, they just monitor cat efficiency.

Re: P0161 every few days
Thanks for that Aaron - I still have a sneaky suspicion it could be something to do with the Jeep running on LPG also as I've read a small piece on that too. When I can afford it I'll run it on petrol for a while ;) (bloody UK fuel prices!!!!).
What are these like if you gut out the cats and is there anything you can run into the sensor circuit like a cap or resistor to fool it?

Re: P0161 every few days
I'm not sure, but like I said there's not going to be any mechanical problems since its a downstream sensor. Also, I'm not sure what would happen with running LPG, but if it hasn't fouled the upstream sensors you should be ok.
