03 wj going up
I'll soon be installing a 6 1/2" lift kit and putting 35" tires on my 2003 wj. I just wanted to see what performance mods I could do to try and get some of the power back after I lift it and put it on bigger tires. I already have a k&n CAI, bore out TB, and magnaflow catback exhaust. any ideas?

Either get a datalogger and an SCT tuner with custom programming from FlyinRyan or a superchips programmer to help increase performance.

It won't get you any additional power from the engine, but gears should help it feel like it was.

I agree with gears. You can do all the engine mods you want, but there will still be strain on the drivetrain. Re-gearing will be your best bet. With a little research you can find the correct ratio that will put your WJ the closest back to "stock"
If i had to guess off the top of my head somewhere about 4:56.. But I don't know if you do a lot of highway driving, our around town mostly.

i had around 10.5" of lift with 35's. ur gonna need some more gearing to spin thoes tires lol. i had 4.56:1 and that was perfect but i do have a nasty supercharged motor too. if u go up that high i would highly reccommend doing addco sway bars front and rear and then it will ride like a caddy. if i was u i wouldnt go any bigger than 33's with the 4.0. ur gonna add so much stress to that trans., the 42re isnt good from the start. 35's on the dana 35c is not a good idea! i broke many dana 44's with the 35's so its ur call. goodluck with the build, post pics

tune, 4.56s. I do tune alot of the lifted I6s, it helps somewhat offset the extra load/mileage drop from lift/tires.

Regearing mandatory. Tuning. I run 35s with my 03, 4.0. What kind of axles are you going to be running with those tires? If you keep d35 you had better not lock it, and treat it like a hand grenade. I have a really nice one, 4:56, new r and p, solid cover, available for when you blow yours up.

Gears- there IS nothing else.
There is NO bang for the buck like gears in a 4x4. Actually, it shouldnt be considered an UPGRADE because if you are running 35s and NOT regeard you are running a broken rig.

Seriously- best $1,500 you will EVER spend. Im trying to convince myself I can do a HO swap for cheaper than gears in my 4.7 WJ.
