Comprehensive Car Insurance for WK2
Hi Guys,

In Sydney what is the cheapest comprehensive car insurance are people getting for WK2. I know a lot depends on circumstances e.g. where you part at night, your suburb, previous driving history, etc, etc, etc

However has someone achieved a sub 1K with any insurer @ market price of their vehice. Mine is 2012 Limited CRD and the cheapest quote I have got is 1200 from Alliance Australia.

My MY13 Limited is insured for an agreed value of $62,000. My premium is $1200 and I'm 20, which apparently makes me "high risk". I'm with CommInsure. Saved heaps changing my XR6 to them too.

Next cheapest was AAMI, and that's who my motorbike is insured with.

It pays to go online and get a few quotes. 30mins work saved me over $700 a year on my XR6, and there was over $1500 difference between the cheapest and most expensive quotes for the GC with exactly the same coverage.

Re: Comprehensive Car Insurance for WK2
I have all my cars under Shannons as the cars I have are the typical vehicles that Shannons insure. The more cars you insure with Shannons the cheaper my premium. I have 4 x cars now with them.

The WK2 J.G.C (our fifth car) is my wifes car and and unfortunately had to go with N.R.M.A as even Shannons could not come to the party with a cheap annual premium for me even with my other cars. They said that there are just some cars they cannot get a low premium for, even though we have a few cars insurred with them. The Jeep is one of them.

If you are a safe driver and have a good history and want to back yourself then choose an insurer who provides i.e a higher excess - then you can insure for as little as 380.00 per year, its up to how you drive, where you drive, and the risks you are prepared to take and deciding whether or not thats the best for you, poeple who have not had any claims for years and years are better off with that system.

My WK2 Jeep is insured with Shannons - they were cheapest by several hundred dollars. I also have two other cars and my home insured with them.

Just goes to show that individual circumstances will make a difference for each person.

The only way is to get quotes. Different insurers classify the same area differently, sometimes living on one side of the street will make a difference from one insurer to the next.

For me GIO was cheapest ($1050 for $75k on an overland diseasel a month ago in Sydney).

I will say this ... GET WINDSCREEN INSURANCE. These modern rain sensing screens can run past $2000 to get replaced. It's usually $50 or so a year to add to a policy.

Re: Comprehensive Car Insurance for WK2
most insurance will not cover you off road - if they say they do then ask for it in writing.

Re: Comprehensive Car Insurance for WK2
I am soon to get my car and just went through this exercise yesterday. I am living in Perth and for an agreed value of $58k (optioned Laredo) - AAMI was the cheapest at $786.89 (inc windscreen and $545 excess. I have another car insured with Shannons and they came out at $1,045. I used to live in Sydney and I believe insuring a car pretty much anywhere out of Sydney will be cheaper (more people, more things to prang into I guess).
Will have a look at the TCIS one mentioned above.
