2nd muffler?

I noticed what appears to be be a large second muffler with the tail pipe coming out of it under the bumper, i was thinking of removing it and putting a regular pipe and tip in its place. Any Thoughts? Thanks:thumbsup:

It's the resonator. There's a thread in the intake, exhaust sub section where someone removed theirs or check you tube. I'm sure there's a video on there somewhere to give you an idea of the sound difference.

Re: 2nd muffler?

I have the resonators cut out of my exhaust, but our motors are completely different.

USUALLY (Read: not guaranteeing anything) people get a meaner sound out of removing the resonators, but they do get a little drone. I've never had the 3.7L, but I've had the 4.0 and the 4.7 and they droned a good bit without resonators.

I never really minded the drone, but some people really dislike it.

More to the point, a resonator is a low restriction device and at the end of the pipe where the exhaust gas has cooled considerably. It is not likely to have any effect of back pressure (power).

I hope someone with a v6 whos removed the resonator can verify if it made any difference in sound for better or worse. Id like to get rid of that thing and put a regular tailpipe and tip on it, i dont mind a little exhaust note but hold the drone please...

IMNSHO just make the pipe long enough so the tip is past the edge of the bumper.
