For the people running 275/55 r20 cooper zeons

I had the zeons installed on Thursday and have driven roughly 50 miles. I noticed while cleaning my car on a slight decline there is very very little clearance from the bolt hanging down near the two front tires and am afraid it may be rubbing. After getting them installed there was plenty of clearance. I have a Laredo and upgraded to the overland 20's with the 275/55 r20's. Does anyone else have these on a Laredo without quadralift?

the bolt you refer to moves up and down with the suspension travel, therefore you will not rub. This is coming from someone who has the Coopers on for over 1k miles.

Sorry I am still a bit confused. Why is there more clearance when the car is on and on a level service vs. it being off and on a decline? The guy who installed them showed me the bolt after installation and there was a good 1/4" to 1/2" clearance but while looking in my driveway it's as if I couldn't slide a piece of paper through the gap.

Its an optical olusion. There is no difference. The bolt moves with the suspension travel since it is bolted to the upper control arm. As it goes up, the vokt goes up, same as going down. You need not to worry. The 275/55 is the biggest you can fit. I am running the same size tire, same Zeons. Stop looking at the bolt.

Tash, do you mean the ball joint bolt? Or tie rod? Perhaps a couple photos of what you are seeing. There is very little clearance to that bolt, but no one is reporting a rub there. Someone posted photos awhile ago. The clearance will change a bit with tire loading and flexing, but that ball joint bolt and nut should be tight and without movement, there should be no movement in relation to the wheel. The ball itself is in the control arm.

Yeah, whatever that piece is.

In short, stop looking at it, stop wondering about it, nothing rubs no matter what suspension travel. I am running the same tires and size as you are for Longer than you and it has not rubbed. Stop worrying about it.

Same tires here, on an overland with no rubbing. It is very close but as stated above that's as close as it'll ever get.
