Brake Replacement

Does anyone know, on average, how long the brakes last on my 2011 Overland w/ Hemi? I'm going on 33,000 mi and brakes starting to fade / take longer to stop. I acutely realized it when I barely missed a deer yesterday morning here in upsate NY. I probably do 1/3rd highway and 2/3rds local stop-and-go driving. Rotors have thickness in them still.

Do you have to replace pads and rotors like my previous BMW X5 or just pads?

Considering upgrading to SRT Brmbos.

Thank You!

Replace both when the work is done. Pull a wheel and check the puck/pad thickness on the backing plate for wear.

Mine still had lots of pad and rotor left after 47k mi. That was mostly highway and towing. The pedal had gotten softer (my 2013 is much firmer) but that may just need a fresh brake bleeding. If you plan to, Pads and rotors are so reasonable I would replace them both.

Not too surprised to hear of a soft pedal. The ceramic OE pads can do that. Semi-met pads would still be firm.

Why would pad type affect this other than the rate of wear?

Re: Brake Replacement

Ceramic pads need a bit more brake pressure to work well, which affects brake feel. Their other advantages make up for it.
