Sell the WK for a Commander?

So it's been almost a year to the day since I bought my WK. It's an 06 ltd and it's been pretty much great. It's got a BB and Sahara wheels, new stereo, programmer and hasn't given me any problems over the last 10K miles. The whole reason I got the Jeep was because we got two puppies last fall and needed a vehicle to transport both of them with their kennels.

Now I've been looking around and have caught myself checking out the Commanders online and been seeing Limiteds in a lower price range than what mine cost with the saddle brown leather that gets me all excited. I know I'll get in trouble with the woman for wanting a new car again (4 new-to-me cars in the last 4 years or so) but I think I'd like the little bit more room, the upgraded leather and the nav/mp3/ipod system all included. Not to mention the vehicles I've seen have the HEMI where mine only has the 4.7L. I know the aftermarket isn't as great for the XK, but aside from a lift and stereo (and wheels, shocks, whatever else goes with it) I don't see myself going balls out at this point. Can anyone talk me out of my thoughts of pursuing the Commander trail over my WK?

I mean do what you want. But i much rather prefer the lines of a WK and overall exterior. But the commander lifted looks sweet!

You have to agree with that. I barely see any of them.

Re: Sell the WK for a Commander?

my parents have a limited '07 commander with all the nice stuff in it ba sound system sunroof and all the other good crap, compared to my 06 wk its not that different main differences are the fold down 3rd row of seats in the back which is convenient but the seats are kind of joke like they made it for midgets. i like the rugged look of the commander looks like a tank but i think the interior is uglier than the wks although thats not saying too much cause they are both not the greatest interiors ever. the trunk does fit more the door is taller so you can fit bigger things in the back longer and taller. i think it drives a little wobblier (i cant think of a better word for it) than the wk but its not that big of difference. both are great cars i think in the end its up to you they arent that different from each other aside from the few things i mentioned id test drive a couple if i were you and see if you like it more or not and then make a decision

There'a quite a few around here (Western Chicago burbs) but they are all driven by soccer moms.

This is the one that caught my attention:

dont forget..... it is much bigger than the WK but built on the WK chasis. i have heard that they handle horribly.

We own one of each and I have no complaints about the way it handles, even when towing.
We bought it new in 2006 . Ours is a 4.7 with a 2" lift ,with 32" BFG kO's .

I will tell you they have a sweet spot at about 80 mph that you almost dont even need to touch the gas. They are not as nimble on the trails due to their size but they will hold their own.

I'm a fan of the XK and I would've bought an XK over the WK if the XK had come with the diesel engine. I would've liked the extra room of the XK over the WK.

I sure like the interior of the one you posted!

I'm guessing the dealer would let you swap wheels/tires if you were trading in your WK.

Re: Sell the WK for a Commander?

like mentioned earlier, do what is best for you.

heres the way I look at it.. pros:
-interior is awesome
-hemi.
-you said you wanted a little more space

cons:
-style wise, I think your WK is nicer.
-even though the leather is sick, you gonna want your GSPs on it when theyre older? lol (unless they stay in the trunk)
-the gas mileage is gonna SUCK.
-personally, i think 87K on a 07 is pretty high.

i think the ultimate would be a hemi WK with that brown leather and RER radio. (i know, good luck finding it) haha but do whats best for you.. in risk of pissing the wife off with a 5th car in 4 or 5 years and the fact that you already have a pretty damn nice WK.. i'd stick with it. But thats just me.

good luck with the search/decision. Let us all know how it works out.

Not trying to stray off topic, but they apparently did produce this combination. I have never seen any in person though.
