I have a problem child WH that had the front diff bearings replaced at 100,000km and as of Christmas day ( we travelling nearly1000 km that day) there is a grinding noise coming from Tranmission area on accelaration or under load up hill,it became progressive worst as the day went on .no light warning just this shot bearing noise.

First I would check all the fluids to make sure there at the proper level. Then see if theres anything leaking under the car, from the bearings and drive shaft.

I believe its the dip stick with the red handle thing near the oil dipstick. To check the fluid level you have to have the car running, then go thru all the gears slowly (foot on the brake), then have it back in park to check the level.

But from my experience with having low transmission fluid is the car wont shift into a higher gear, staying in lower gears reving like crazy.

100 is a fine figure I can just about get a return fare to USA for the price of a orginal one.
The Junction where the shaft on the tranfer case end looks like it goes into a CV type joint is completely shot free play of about an inch.
Maybe air freight is resonable approach.

Any transmission shops near you, maybe they can repair the linkage with new parts cheaper. Isnt there a bearing in there?
