SRT8 headed to the shop-headlight went out

Had the beast for a few weeks now. After going through a carwash, I noticed that a headlight was no longer working. I turn the jeep off while going through the automatic wash because they close the entrance and exit doors to keep the water from freezing. Anyways, new headlight/housing is on order and should be here on Thursday. I am hoping that the condensation in the housing is due to a bad seal.

you really dont need a new headlight housing unless they found something else wrong. Condensation is normal for a new vehicle with vented headlights. When I got my new 2013...it rained the first two days I had it...and the headlights did the same just around the bottom.....even in my garage. It then cleared and has never done it again. It could be just a failed bulb. I wouldnt want them pulling my new bumper if its just a bulb.

Thanks Scott, I will give the dealer a call and have them try replacing the bulb.

Update: *sigh* So I just called my service guy and he is saying the bulb comes sealed in the housing and they want to replace the housing, especially with that much moister in it......

LOL...clueless service advisers....the bulb just has a simple rubber cover. I replaced my oem bulbs with Xenondepot 6000k bulbs...its pretty simple.

I only wash my SRT by hand. My 98 T/A had 63,445 on it when I sold it and it never saw a auto wash :)

So the part was ordered on Monday and it is Friday and the part has not arrived. Is there less availability or SRT8 parts? I thought the headlight housing would be the same as the overland.

Thinking about calling the SRT8 hotline to gripe about the parts availability.

Srt8 headlamps are different from the overland. The inside of the lamp is black

Dont mean to threadjack, but to swap a turn signal bulb, does it come out from the back or do you have to pull the clear face of the headlight off?

Thanks Milous! I won't be too rough on my parts guy with that bit of knowledge. My poor SRT8 jeep is illegal to drive after 4:30 in the afternoon here, so I was getting irritated with the amount of time it was taking to get the part.

OP I assume all your lights are stock, but the fogs look really white in the pics. You do any light mods yet?
