Anyone ever get the tire/vibration issue resolved????

Hello all,

First time poster from Toronto. I congratulate the moderators and contributors for making this such a valuable site!

So I poked around on the site for a while before pulling the trigger on my 4X4 Limited with 20" Forteras. I read many of the posts about the shuddering and vibration issues but I went ahead and bought one anyway hoping I'd have none of those issues. Well, lo and behold I'm vibrating like a madman at highway speeds (115 km/h to 120 km/h and above). I have 3000 kms on the truck and the vibration has been there from day one. I feel it in the seat of my pants and it feels like it's coming from the rear because the steering wheel is pretty stable.

I've gone through one balance of all tires already with no appreciable change in vibration. I'm convinced it's the tires because it's smooth all the way to 115 km/hr. When I put it in neutral at those speeds, the vibration is still there which further leads me to believe it's the tires and not drive line related.

I have a feeling my truck may have been sitting for a while before I bought it which may have contributed to the tires being what they are.

In any case, it's going in next week and I want to be armed with some knowledge from you folks if swapping out one or all tires finally resolved or improved the vibration issue. Or what finally cured the problem if anything???

Thanks!

x2

I was surprised to find my local owned repair/tire shop. had 500k in Hunter Equipment in their shops and the Big Chains did not.

X3, using a Hunter GSP9700, the best and hopefully done by a tech that knows how to do the procedure properly.

I have the same issue with my 20's as well. I'm sitting at 21k and plan to replace them very shortly. They've been balanced by the dealer twice and a local shop twice. The local shop told me that two of the tires measure out way too heavy and is probably my issue.

I was able to get my hands on a set of 18" take offs and swapped wheels/tires for a week and sure enough the ride was silky smooth at all speeds.

The GY Forteras seem to have serious quality issues.I probably would have gone with a new set by now but I'm having a tough time deciding which direction to go...more agressive(nitto grappler or cooper zeon, AT3) or a true comfort/hwy tire.

I had the stock 17' goodyear forteras and the front two started separating at 4k miles, dealer replaced the front two but Chrysler wouldn't let the dealer replace all of them with another brand of tires. I would never run stock tires on a new vehicle again, i ended up getting a good deal on a set of Wired 20" wheels/tires otherwise i was going to replace the crappy death trap Forteras on the stock wheels with terra grapplers or bridgestone.

Thanks folks. I'll see what happens next week when it goes in for this service again. I'm disappointed to have this issue on such a new/nice vehicle but I'm more interested in getting the matter resolved ASAP since I can't be trundling back and forth to the dealership 10X to get this fixed. I'm pretty sure it's the tires and I'll give them my input. Whether or not they consider it is beyond my control.

If I need to get a road force done out of my own pocket, so be it I guess.

The vibration was resolved with a wheel alignment, which developed after replacing the stock 18" tires with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 2s.

Ha d to replace my forteras with forteras because of a noise in the front end.i could not change tires and have them say it was my fault and not Perdue a fix anyway I had my tires rebalanced 3 times. I thought the rsa tires I had on my 2005 were bad but these are TeribLy noise for a all season they are not consistent like my revos they tend to act up on tar and chip roads and horible on rain groves and rough surfaces.

Just curious if there is a solution for this issue - 70mph steering slight vibration? Purchased different tires for 20" stock wheels, had them balanced few different shop still get slight vibration around 70mph..Could the steering intermediate shaft be the cause of it all...anyone had this part replaced in there Jeep?

This may not be an answer but I had an odd vibration at specific speeds on the highway. The vibration for me was kind of like a pulsing every 1 second that I could hear, feel in the floor of the vehicle and everywhere else. I had wheels balanced, alignment etc. It turned out to be a wheel hub bearing issue and one of the dealers I have been working with found the problem and replaced bearings... NO MORE VIBRATION. Hope that helps!
